A replica classic brings back the sound of the '70s.

The Fender '72 Telecaster Thinline Electric Guitar is a classic. 1972 took the Tele into new zones, giving it dual humbuckers for a meatier sound, and a new pickguard design for an updated look. This reissue is authentic in every detail: semi-hollow ash body, 7.25" radius fingerboard, die-cast machine heads, nickel silver frets and a 6-saddle string-thru-body bridge. Also has a single f-hole accent, humbucking pickups, and a white shell pickguard. Includes deluxe gig bag ($55 value).

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

  • Warm sound and great sustain

As reviewed by Luis on 8/19/2011

I was looking for something to compliment my American Standard strat and my LP Junior. I'm partial to Fender necks and maple fretboards and when I tried Thinline Telecaster, bought it right there. It had a deeper (darker?) tone, great sustain on those low strings and surprising still sounded like a telecaster. I thought because of the HB pickups, it would have a Gibson LP or ES sound, but they still sound like single coils (but not as twangy). Finally, this guitar is LIGHT! Hey, it's important for old guys like me.

  • Great guitar, well made, super sound

As reviewed by JON PLESCE on 10/5/2006

This guitar is the real deal. Very well made, no flaws at all on the beautiful natural ash finish. It came perfectly set-up right out of the box which shocked me. The sound is the best part, it's more versatile than any single coil tele., yet still gives enough tone for you country players. The neck pickup gives a sweet Les Paul type smooth sound. The maple neck is very easy to play, with great action, and very smooth. If you can't play this guitar, give back the money you spent on lessons. I have a Gibson SG which is my favorite guitar in my collection but this is now 2nd. The sound is much more rounded than a single coil pickup tele, plays any kind of music, and it's a Fender so it should last forever. And the most important thing is the value, for this price you will not find a more versatile guitar as well made, and with such a beautiful appearance. By the way it also records very well. I have a 16-track studio, and this is just as good as my 61 SG. Anyone out there who writes lyrics to rock-pop-blues songs, and would like to write them for my music please contact me at plescejj@ptd.net. thanks

  • Well Rounded Telecaster

As reviewed by Drewrevolution on 10/18/2006

The Telecaster 72 Thinline is a great guitar to have in your collection. It has that tele tone you're looking for, but is also able to switch and have a different, fuller sounding tone as well. It's definitely one of the more versitile telecasters you can get because of the hollowbody giving it a warmer feel, while keeping it's twang. Love it. Definitely a great purchase!
