These strings are disappointing.

Although these strings initially sounded a little brighter than the phosphor-bonze strings they replaced, there wasn't really that much improvement and within a week they seemed far duller sounding than the old strings. For me, the brighter sound of new strings generally lasts longer than just a week. Additionally, while I know guitars and their strings are temperature sensitive, these strings appear to be more temperature sensitive than phosphor-bronze strings they replaced, requiring retuning with only slight temperature variations of a few degrees that never bothered the phosphor-bronze strings.

I was skeptical of these strings because aluminum is a less expensive component than tin or zinc used in small ratios musical strings along with copper. Was very surprised that they live up to all claims made for them by Ernie Ball, and I am much more impressed with the Aluminum Bronze strings than other EB products. These strings are ideal for smaller, travel-sized guitars and perform well on full-sized ones, with longevity a real plus factor.

I play in open C (CGCEGC), so I prefer thicker strings. I was using EB's Earthwoods, which were okay, but they went dull and started to corrode after only about 3 weeks, plus they weren't giving me the brightness and attack I like. Knowing how consistent EB strings are ,I heard about these Aluminum Bronze strings and gave them a try, and WOW. They brought my 35+ year old Yamaha back to life, it absolutely roars now. Deep, punchy, defined, and articulate, but the kicker for me is that they maintained their tight, crisp brightness for almost 3 months of daily playing, and they still haven't corroded. For 8 bucks a pack, I'm sold. I just wish GC sold them in a 5-pack. Thanks, EB.
