This is a limited edition version of Epiphone's number one selling model available with a choice of "worn" finishes. The Epiphone Ltd Ed Special-I is a great way for beginners to get started on guitar with real Les Paul tone and feel. But seasoned pros love the Special-I also because it's a great-sounding, workhorse guitar that lets them leave their more expensive axes at home.

The authentic LP power starts with an basswood, trademarked Les Paul body with a bolted-on "1960's" SlimTaper™ mahogany neck featuring a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. The Special-I is voiced by a pair of hot open-coil Epiphone 700T and 650R humbucker pickups, giving it massive, unmistakable Les Paul tone. Like all of Epiphone's electric guitars, it comes standard-equipped with 500K potentiometers for the master volume and master tone controls, plus Epiphone's heavy-duty 3-way pickup selector toggle switch and exclusive non-rotating heavy-duty output jack. This value-champ also now features nickel hardware including an intonated, one-piece wraparound bridge-stopbar.

    This is my third Epiphone electric guitar. The other two are the Limited Edition '61 SG re-make and the Dot Studio. This guitar really delivers exactly what you'd want from a Les Paul style. I replaced the stock strings with some Ernie Ball's and let it rip on my Crate amp and it really did everything I want. Great for power chords and heavy distortion, but also nice for ska and pretty much anything else you'd want to play. The bolt-on neck is a little bit of a bummer but it doesn't take away from the power and beauty of this guitar. The neck is sleek and easy to play on. I would suggest it for any experience level and amazing for the price. Definitely a good buy if you're looking for a new guitar but don't want to spend much money.

  • Incredible Value

    I got this because I wanted an inexpensive electric that I could keep at work, use with GarageBand and not worry about (easily replaceable for very little $$$). To say I was impressed is an understatement. First off, tuning and intonation were dead on... and I hadn't even changed the strings. The fretwork on the neck was far above what I have experienced with Epiphone Custom Shop releases costing hundreds of dollars more... Seriously. I have colleagues at work who perform professionally (no, seriously, these guys know everybody)... and they all commented on what a nice guitar this would be to just "have around" whenever they wanted to jam a little. The only downside? The Epiphone engraved plate on the back where the neck bolts screw in is UPSIDE DOWN! English as a foreign language continues to be a challenge for Quality Control throughout the world. Buy this guitar. You won't be disappointed... seriously.

  • Great Neck

    I went to GC to get a Epi Standard and stumbled across these, they really made me stop and think, I could get one of these in each color and still walk away saving some cash. While I went ahead and got the Lester Standard I would say this is a great beginners guitar.The thing I liked about it was the 60s profile neck with the satin finish, it just feels smooth and fast. I also noticed that these seemed to be put together with more of and eye for detail than the special IIs, I think this might be because they are a limited run. I also like them because it is a way to get a classic shape in TV yellow without breaking the bank.Finally, I think that If you slaped some burstbuckers,57 classics, or p-94s in one of these you would have a more than decent guitar, although I think they missed the boat by making it a bolt on neck.
