A classic design, beautifully crafted.

The warm, clear tone of the Riviera electric guitar makes it a perfect instrument for jazz, blues, or country. Its semi-hollow body is crafted of laminated maple. A set mahogany C-shaped neck provides sustain and playing comfort. The 3 Alnico V P-90s produce a fatter, warmer single-coil tone for extra sass while a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece delivers the twang that has been a favorite for decades.

  • Great guitar for the money

As reviewed by Tommy on 7/25/2011

I own 7 guitars and this one is my favorite. It has a great clean sound and sounds pretty good with distortion too. That's not to say it isn't without faults. The middle pickup cannot be turned off via the selector switch, you have to turn the middle volume knob all the way down to turn it off. Also, the guitar doesn't have much punch and can't wail on leads and stuff. If you get a preamp pedal that corrects that problem though. Also, it can have a good bit of feedback too so you should invest in a noise suppressor. Even with those issues it's still a great buy.

  • Nice guitar for the money

As reviewed by JEFF BURKHOLDER on 9/12/2011

I'm happy overall with this guitar. I've always wanted a semi-hollow to give me a more mellow tone than I get with my Les Paul and other solids. This is a lower cost alternative to the 335, so there are some shortcomings to be expected, but here they are: Some of the fit and finish is lacking, the gold top and bindings are very good, but the finish around the f-holes is a bit sloppy. The pickguard is very cheap and the logo is a sticker that seems bound to come off. The knobs are on slightly crooked, and wobble a bit when rotated. None of this affects the way it plays and is not a huge problem given the price. The guitar looks really good and you have to look up close to see these things. Now the good: I like the feel of this axe and so far it is very playable and has a good tone and sustain. I was able to set the action and intonation easily and it stays in tune. The bigsby seems to add quite a bit of tone and sustain transferring the string harmonics to the body. I like playing it unamplified to warm up and then play through my amp clean or with just a bit of overdrive. I can see putting some effort into upgrading a few things over time. I don't care for the tuner buttons (a bit small for my taste) and I would put some locking grovers on. The middle pup doesn't add much, I'd swap it out for a duncan to spice it up a bit. And of course the pickguard would stand to be replaced with a nicer one. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.

  • Outstanding

As reviewed by Mike on 7/27/2011

This is one well put together guitar. I love the sounds of P90 pickups. This guitar is great for Jazz, Blues, and Rock. The sound combinations that this guitar produces is endless. One thing to remember is the selection switch is wired a little diffrent. Position 1 is Neck and Middle pup, Position 2 is all 3 pup's. Position 3 is Middle and Bridge. If you want just the neck or bridge you will have to turn down the volume for the middle pup. This guitar is real easy to use. The visual appeal is a 10.If you purchase this you won't be sorry. At the price asked for it is a steal. Buy, Play, and Enjoy.
