NEW REVIEW - Whatabeast!

I bought this guitar about a month ago and i couldn't be happier with my purchase! This thing has some serious warm tone and the neck pickup is grrrrreat for those fast melodic solos! I'm a huge Metallica fan and this thing will give you that classic Metallica Sound! Great for playing Kirks Legendary solos with great looks and a name you can trust! My only 2 real complaints is this thing is in need of some strap locks cause it will fall off the strap if your not careful! and second i would get it Pleked so you can increase the sound to surpass that of a gibson! you wont be disappointed!

What a great value!

This guitar is the third guitar I have owned. Previously I had a Fender Strat and a Epiphone SG. This guitar is just great. The quality is astounding for the price and the overall feel of the les pauls makes it worth every penny. I would say that this Guitar is great for Intermediate players like myself. Advanced players, with cash would probably go get the Gibson Silverburst. But for this price and its quality, even if you are a pro this is just one hell of a deal. 5 stars what a beautiful guitar.

Epiphone Hits a Homer on this One!

I previously aquired this guitar used. It was a rare find;perfect condition and priced excellently. My Epi LP Custom is actually the previous incarnation of this edition. It's the same guitar, but it's got a natural vintage sunburst finish rather than the silver finish, and the headstock has the 'les paul model' logo rather than the diamond on this one. As far as playability, you got the same features as a Gibson Les Paul. It's got a thin neck, rigid body. My only complaint is that the neck is finished so well, that it doesn't play as fast as a worn neck or a strat neck. But the action is great. Though I'm no metalist, I sometimes down-tune a step for clean songs, and the guitar still maintains powerful and comfortable acion. Sound-wise, everything you'd want from an LP; thick Jimmy Page treble tones and good bues rythym tones. The humbuckers are crafted well, but sometimes you can hear them rattle when you play unplugged, but who cares? By the way, the Epi LP isn't just a Gibson clone. Epi LP's have a bassier range, making them great rythym guitars. Thus, an Epi is a different guitar. It has nice deep clean tones, but it also has some nice crunchy treble features. It's no telecaster, but it's versatile enouph to imitate one in a band situation. Also, this guitar won't get out of tune for nothing. I've been in Greece for the past summer and when I got back, it was still in tune! Good stock tuners! Overall, this is not just a 'pretty' guitar, it's a healthy alternative to Gibson. Buy it know. I've been playing guitar for about a year, and this is a great quality guitar for the intermiediate player. It's a unique guitar with character. Thanks Epi!

Great

Very good sound thru a good amp. Even sounds good thru a crap amp. Built very well for the price that it is. My buddy has a Gibson Les Paul Studio and he wants to trade me all the time. Not happening cuz this guitar blows it out of the water. If your gonna change the pickups in it, I would suggest some Seymour Duncans. Cheaper than Gibson and sounds better. You Tool fans should know that. Oh change the strings too cuz the shipped ones are junk.

A "No-Brainer" Deal

Just the looks, alone, draw you in to this magnificent piece. How it plays is only an after thought. But let me tell ya, this axe is nasty! And, at a fraction of the price of a "Gibson", it's an absolute no-brainer. My package arrived yesterday and, right out of the box, I was awe-struck by the quality finish and the deep shine on the body... perfectly contrasted by the chrome hardware and pearl inlays. But when I tuned the strings and played it, I couldn't believe how sweet this guitar felt in my hands. The neck action was perfect right out of the box. I played it clean through my 60 watt Crate and the response and sustain was incredible! The thing practically plays itself! I've been playing only for a few years but there's just no way I'd drop $3400.00 on a Gibson VS. $500.00 on this Epi, where the difference in price does not even come close to quantifying the difference in quality. If not for the name on the headstock, I'd challenge anyone to reveal the difference between the two. I've played Gibson's LP just to humor myself at my local music supply store because there's no way I could afford one. Well... Problem solved, people! If you're on the fence about this one, it will not disappoint. For the price, how can you not pull the trigger if you've been lusting after it like I have?
