Sweetness
I,ve been playing guitar for 43 yrs now. I own 2 gibson les pauls one standard which I didn't keep long because the weight numbed my shoulder and hand. The second one was a rare Les Paul Signature which I played for 17 yrs, till I worn down the frets and traded it in.This Epiphone Ultra is light weight and the rosewood fretboard is the nicest I've felt on a new guitar in a long time. The pickups sound dynamic and the body color is stunning.I finally found a guitar to replace my Signature.Beauty,Tone,Action, and feel. What more could you ask for in a guitar! Oh Yeah Great Price.

ok..
ok this a great guitar for the starting levl players but as you progress u notice its herder to bend and the frets are very soft so now they hav kinks in them that mute your bends:( other than that its pretty good its light, sorta comfertable, and the neck grip: its nice so if u swet u dont stick but its kinda thick so after playing lots of bar chords ur thumb hurts. over all its deffintetly an intermediet level guitar!

Honestly, I've played hundreds of higher-end guitars, and this one takes the cake for value. I've owned this guitar for about four years and the only problems I've had have been the gold hardware fading away from playing it so much! The feeling is superb- not heavy at all like a standard Paul. Intonation is dead-on, tone is amazing, and the playability is through the roof. Don't believe me? Pick one up and play it- you'll see how hard it is to put down! Don't let the Epiphone name discourage you- you will be surprised!

I got mine at GC yesterday (slightly used) and it's just perfect for me! I'm not a pro musician; so I'm not willing to shell out $2000 for an over priced gibson. The fit and finish on this guitar is flawless! The quilted maple top is beautiful...The stock pic-ups are matched for any style...The satin neck is smooth and easy to move around. Gold grovers & hardware adds to the beauty of this guitar... It's also not has heavy and a custom or standard les paul; Epiphone isn't gibson's ugly sister anymore!!! Save the money you would spend on a gibson and buy a killer amp for your epi les paul!!!
Pretty awesome

I've had this guitar for 2 years now, and it's pretty great. The original Epiphone Les Paul I purchased from Guitar Center had a faulty pickup, so they traded me this one until the other one could be fixed. To be honest, I chose to keep this one instead of my old one. It has a truly amazing sound that beats anything I've ever played, including an actual Gibson Les Paul. Its frets allow for easy movement when playing intense riffs and barring isn't too difficult. On the downside, it might need more neck adjustments than other guitars. But seriously, if you have the opportunity to buy one of these go for it.

By way of background, my first real electric guitar was a wine red Gibson Les Paul Custom that I paid $600 for brand new. At some point along my life, I ended up selling the guitar to pay bills (despite the fact that my father always told me that musical instruments should be the last things to go). I've regretted that ever since. To replace that guitar today would cost just under four thousand dollars. So I had resigned myself to the fact that it was likely I wasn't going to own another Custom anytime soon, and along came the Ultra. Like a lot of things in life, I was first attracted by the look of the guitar. Beautiful quilting on the top... tasteful cherry sunburst. I can take or leave the gold hardware, but it works with the rest of the guitar. Then when the nice man at Guitar Center handed it to me to play I realized what the big deal was. If memory serves, my Custom weighed about 143 pounds and made it so I had to wear a super wide strap so my shoulder wouldn't hurt. The Ultra on the other hand is nice and light and has countours in all the right places. And it plays and sounds great too. In a perfect world, I'd have the ebony fingerboard of the Custom, but this is a really nice rosewood board, the frets are well dressed and the shape of the neck is comfortable. The action wasn't quite as low as I like out of the box, so I've done some tweaking and eventually will take it to Wolf in Boston to do his magic on it, but it's still really good. For the first six months I had the Ultra I was playing it through smaller kiddie amps and although I could get some cool sounds, I wasn't blown away. I even thought I wanted to upgrade to a Gibson Les Paul and went to Guitar Center and test drove an LP Traditional through a Marshall that sounded awesome. I really thought I was going to make a move until I bought a Marshall combo, and brought it home to play the Ultra through. Guess what? Through a good amp, the Ultra sounds fan-freakin-tastic. Go figure? I'm having a lot of fun with the Ultra and am now in no rush to soak a big chunk of cash into a Gibson LP. My advice if you pick one of these up is to do liike I did and take off the pickguard so you can see more of the quilting. It's stunning.
