  • Hidden Gem

As reviewed by Whitney L on 11/3/2011

As I walk through Guitar Center, there are always hundreds of guitars. Guitars I wouldn't play with a ten foot pick, guitars that are way out of my price range, and guitars that I drool over, waiting for a little extra spending cash. Occasionally, while I wait, I find a hidden gem. This guitar fits the bill, and has become the newest addition to my collection. I followed the suggestions of many of these reviews, and replaced the stock strings with Elixir Polyweb medium gauge almost immediately. The DR-100 sounded pretty good with the originals, but rang out amazing tone for a cheap guitar with the elixirs. There is a little bit of string buzz when jamming a bit heavier, but all in all this is a beauty. I have had it about two weeks now, and occasionally have to tune it back up about half a step, but I'm blaming the new strings and changing weather for that one. When I first opened it, I did find a piece of sandpaper still inside the body. I didn't actually hear any noise alteration, and only found it because one string gave a little trouble releasing from the body. I recommend this guitar highly.

  • Didn't work out..Better Options

As reviewed by Michael Ivey on 2/1/2013

I ordered this guitar from On-Line. It shipped and arrived in 3 days. The package was great. The guitar was boxed in two boxes protected very well. This guitar looks great and has a good price for a beginner guitar. I wanted it to have an acoustic around just to play to have fun. Here is the downer....the guitar arrived with the neck twisted beyond repair. I knew something wasn't right when I first played it, but just thought that it need a good pro set done on it. I took it to my tech to put new strings on and do the set up. He told me that the neck was twisted and to just return it. So I took it back to my local Guitar Center. Those guy's were great. They took it back no problems. Well I ended up going with the Fender DG-60 instead. For the few extra dollars for that guitar is a much better option. The DG-60 sounds great, plays great, and looks even better. The $60 extra for the Fender is worth it. The machine heads are better too. So I suggest to go with the Fender DG-60 you'll be happy like I am now.

  • Great Guitar

As reviewed by Tommy on 2/8/2011

This is a great guitar from the price. I got being nervous about the sound quality for this cheap, but that was no problem. The original strings had an odd tone for this guitar and after i changed them the guitar sounded great. It is louder then i expected, you can hear it upstairs when i play in the basement. The only bad part about the guitar is that it doesnt have a cut out so it is hard to reach the higher frets. Overall this is a great guitar for the price.
