I have tried many octave and phase shifting pedals, but nothing has come close to the clarity and variety of the POG 2. In film score, I like to apply electric effects to acoustic instruments and this pedal doesn't have the digital overtones of other octave pedals. I can get unbelievable swells (Steve Morse, Eric Johnson) and cinematic feedback with an acoustic guitar using the LP Filter and Detune vs. the multiple combinations of the Octave array. It is also very easy to use for the complexities of its sound.

I bought the POG2 in hopes that my cello would sound like an upright bass. On the plus side, it did sound pretty close during the rehearsal. I was looking forward to performing with it. The chamber orchestra I was playing with had no bass players. I was the only cello. So I placed a Realist Pick-Up on my Cello and ran the POG2 through a Fishman Loudbox Performer Amp. Unfortunately It stopped working during the recital. OUCH!! The conductor was not happy. I was not happy. This was the second unit I've had problems with. The first had a bent preset knob. Luckily I noticed it before the purchase was made. It's a real shame that the POG2 didn't work out. I think the idea is good. But I can't afford for it to break during a gig again. RELIABILITY ISSUES!!

Love the lush sounds

By jeffrey tribby

from Lakeland, Florida

I wafted back and forth and listened to several demos before deciding to buy this thing, and I'm very glad I did! I had no real trouble getting the hang of the different settings to get a HUGE variety of sounds. If you find a sound you like, be sure to write it down right then. There are setting templates available on the ehx web site, but don't be afraid to experiment. I turned two strings into practically a whole orchestra with this pedal. Moreover, I hooked it up with a Ravish Sitar pedal and a Fender Blender and found myself in another universe. The possiblilties with the POG2 and another pedal are almost endless. I'm more than just pleased with my investment. Every time using this thing is another learning experience. I see a lot of sounds and fun ahead with the POG2. Get one and open your mind.

Loads of sounds and fun!

By JEFFREY TRIBBY

from Lakeland, Floriday

Let me say first, that I wafted back and forth over getting this thing. I decided to go for it after listening to several demos. I definitey made the right choice. I wandered through the settings just playing with them and kind of got the hang of it. Then I started trying out some of the suggested settings I got on-line. I thought there should be a sheet of templates provided. No, but POG2s DO come with a power supply! Big yes for me. Now then, the templates can be obtained right from the ehx site. Go to ehx.com/products/pog2, then click on pog2 settings (in blue lettering) for the templates. You can print them out and go nuts. It also has a page of blank templates for you to mark down your own ideas. I turned two guitar strings into a whole string section. This pedal is not that hard to figure out. I do suggest that if you find a setting you like that's not on a template, be sure to write all the control settings down right then so you don't forget and lose that sound. This pedal will greatly enhance my recordings, especially since I have no keyboards. I can't wait to see what happens when I add my Ravish Sitar pedal and/or my Fender Blender to it. Great pedal!!

The only stomp box that I have not returned.

By MAURICE HOLYBEE

from cherry valley, ca

As a bassist it is hard to find truely a useful effects pedal. This one is. I usually only use the 2 upper octives, because I play a 5er lower octives are almost below the audible range. with only 2 upper octives active it sounds like a Hammond organ. I did have a problem with the input jacks not holding firmly enough because the tip did not quite reach in far enough to be held by the tip contact. I fixed that by removing the beautiful but rather thick plastic bevelled washers on the outside of the case behind the jack's securing nut and replaced them with thin metal ones.

The 1st effect pedal I have kept for bass

By MAURICE HOLYBEE

from Cherry Valley

as a bassist I have tried all sorts of effects pedals, most made very interesting sounds and were fun to play with, but all were returned. This is the 1st one that I will keep. It adds fullness like adding a B3 to the background. I don't see much use for the 2nd octive down as it is subsonic in most cases, but the one octive down adds a deep fullness. When played with hints of lower and upper octives it just seems to add harmonics, when more aggressive it can be overbearingly tinny on the 2nd octive up and if played to low it can add subsonic warble. but if used in moderation I see tremenous usefulness for this device.

Polyphonic is what makes this great

By Mike Abney

from College Station, TX

There are other octave and pitch shifting pedals out there, but finding another that is polyphonic (other than this one's younger sibling the mini-POG) is tricky. In case you're not familiar, the polyphonic in this case means the pedal can octave-shift multiple notes at once. The best example of this is replicating a 12-string sound with a 6-string. Play "Wish You Were Here" with this and be able to switch from the 12-string opening to the 6-string solo with ease.

Wonderful Pedal

By Ronald Holm

from Loves Park, IL

This is one cool device. Generate just a first low octave and produce authentic bass with your guitar. Add the first high octave and produce a fine 12-string sound. Add second octaves and effects to produce an organ sound and a variety of other sounds. The preset options are very handy. The POG is nice, but I am glad I spent the extra money to buy the POG2. The GC order was flawless and delivery was very fast. I have a couple of questions, though. First, why doesn't EH add a battery option for power? Second, exactly why do they say only an EH power supply can be used with the POG2? I mean, volts are volts and mAs are mAs, right? Not a big deal, but I am curious.

Best $324 spent on pedals

By Brendan

from Costa Mesa, CA

I play for a Christian rock/worship band and sometimes our synth player isn't able to make it, this pedal completely solved that problem! I'm able to get some awesome organ and synth sounds out of this pedal! I also use it for some string/ebow type sounds. I have an ebow, but this pedal is just a lot easier to use, especially when playing lead because I constantly find myself having to pick up and put down the ebow so that I can play lead lines, but with this pedal I don't need to even pick up the ebow and get the same if not better sounds out of it.

It Broke....

By JH

from Seattle, WA

The Pedal is pretty awesome. But it worked less that 3 months. I really enjoyed it. You can do a lot with it. I can imagine that adjusting it in a live setting would be a pain. I have had mine less than 3 months and it has stopped working. I have not played out with it, and it has remained in my rehearsal space. One day it worked, the next it did not. Looking online, I have seen people with the same experience. Its a lot of money to spend on something that you can't trust. Keep that in mind when shopping.

Almost great

By Bob

from Worcester, MA

The tones in this thing are very interesting and useful. I was able to create five presets in a sitting that account for most of my gigging needs. While I am a bassist, this thing sounds great on guitar with a little drive. I dialed in a tone that just made me want to play Frankenstein, and my one guitar sounded like Edgar Winter's entire band. The biggest problem with this pedal is the preset switching. It just wasn't designed for on-the-fly tone changes during a performance. If you are planning to use multiple presets in a single song, you might be disappointed at what it would take to do this. It's obviously better than the original POG with no memory, but it isn't what it should be. If I didn't need this now, I'd have waited for the POG3.
