I got this after finding that David Gilmour uses one and after hearing a demo on YouTube. It definitely delivers the chorus sound of the "Brain Damage" track from Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" album with settings at 9/7/3 o'clock. This is a very lush, liquid sound that seems more wide open than the typical digital chorus pedal. Increasing the rate from here can make it very Nirvana-like. The flanger portion of this can produce a wide variety of sounds including a tremolo, a constant wahwahwah, sweeping flange sounds and spacey tin can like tone. You can use the flange and chorus together to get some complex and interesting sounds. The LED also becomes a cool mood light in certain settings. I took away one star because it can become a bit noisy. Still, I love the rich sound and don't know of any pedal that can replace it.
This flanger/chorus isn't for everyone I must admit, but I'm in love with it. I will never get rid of my Electric Mistress because it provides such a unique way to blend the flange and chorus. This pedal requires a lot of play before finding what youre looking for but it is really fun to search for that sound. Plus it's stereo! I often play a natural tone through this pedal for funky rhythmic ryffs. Sometimes I use it with a deep distortion when I want a nice Grunge/Garage tone with the nuance of a flange. This pedal is great because you can use it to exercise subtlety and insanity. blending the three nobs makes it easy to achieve so many different sounds. It remains one of my most used pedals.
This pedal has some cool and unique sounds in it, but I ended up returning it and keeping the EH small clone I bought at the same time. I found that the mixed sounds( chorus and flange together) were cool and different, but the chorus alone was not near as good as the small clone. It's just not as clear and defined. The flange alone can't compare to a boss flanger either. Overall it seems a bit muddy or muffled. I had no use at all for the weird frozen filter matrix sound. after 12 o clock things get too wierd and effected for me. I guess some people want that, but it's useless for what I play. All I need is a killer simple chorus or flange that has awesome tone over weird options. Go with a small clone for a sweet chorus with 2 modes and a flange like tone at lower settings for 84 bucks!
