D'Addario

Description

The NS Micro offers improved accuracy, faster response, expanded calibration range and an improved ratchet design. A highly sensitive piezo transducer and easy-to-read multi-color backlit display allow smooth and highly accurate tuning in noisy, dim or well-lit environments while the micro design and reversible screen allow the tuner to hide effortlessly behind or mount on the front side of the headstock allowing the tuner to remain clamped to the instrument inside most cases when stored.

A 360-degree swivel mechanism and adjustable padded clamp offer optimal viewing angles and maximum positioning flexibility. As a result, the NS Micro is equally at home on left- and right-handed instruments as well as on small and large headstocks, making it an ideal choice for the widest variety of players and instruments. The NS Micro is powered by a readily available CR2032 battery (included) and provides maximum battery life utilizing an auto-off function, shutting the tuner off automatically after several minutes from power up.

Auto-off, tiny, great - 2 for 1 price

This tiny contact tuner works great, and you get the 2-pack for almost the same price as a single unit. Auto-off function and tiny size made it an easy choice to go with my 11-yr-old's new violin. He won't have to worry about whether he shut it off (no accidental battery drain), as it powers off after about 10 minutes. It fits easily in violin case's small storage compartment when not in use, and to use it, he just clips it to the top of the scroll and turns the display so he can see it while tuning. I clipped the second tuner onto the head of my acoustic guitar, and it's so small that it can stay clipped on the headstock all the time now, even while g's stored in its case. Digital display/readout can be flipped with a press of a button, adjustable clip allows for fairly wide range of width, and the unit can be spun/twisted, all of which accommodates various mounting scenarios. Easy to change tuning frequency (readout for freq setting shows hz) if you want. When tuning, the notes appear as a large letter, with red, yellow, and green illustrating how close you are to being in tune for that particular note. Sharps are indicated, as well; no flats shown, but every flat is also a sharp of another note, so no biggie. Readout is big enough, especially with graduating colors and bars to clearly indicate tuning progress. Bought these a few weeks ago. Gonna buy another 2-pack of these to stick on my tele and bass.

Good form and fit

I like how the tuner can be hidden behind the headstock. I can be seen well when indoors but is a little bit more difficult in sunlight, typical for tuners. I use this tuner on both guitars and basses and tuning the higher notes is quick. However tuning the low E on the bass is a problem. I would probably tune with another tuner before I start a set and just use this to check during the set.

I broke a Fender tuner that I had to remove every time I put a guitar back in the case. These are small enough that they can stay on and cheap that I don't care if I break or lose them

  • I love these tuners!

There are so many electronic tuners on the market, it's difficult to narrow the field. Many have "polarized" reviews. A lot of good, along with numerous negative reviews (keeping in mind that consumer electronics always have a certain number of defective units). I bought these in a 2 pack, around 10 dollars each (My first digital clip on tuners). I like several things about them. First, they don't look like a tree growing out of your headstock. In other words, they are unobtrusive. Secondly. they aren't of the design like Snark and others that have obvious weak points (the "neck" that attaches the body to the clip), that you know will eventually break (read the negative reviews). The locking stepped clip works very well. Third, the display not only physically rotates on the clip mechanism, the color LCD (LED?) display can be rotated electronically to 1 of 4 orientations, very much like you can do with photos on your cell phone. Fourth, they are quite sensitive, much more than my old style Fender vu meter style tuners, which are getting finnicky. Fifth, You can quickly mount them and tune, no fiddling with patch cords and plugging and unplugging the cord. You can leave them in place, with the display on the back side of your head stock, or wherever you prefer. Sixth, they work equally well on bass and guitars. If there is any con, it's the fact that they are quite small, which of course is also an advantage. It took some trial and error to find a good spot on my bass that allowed clear viewing, but that's a minor thing. The display is quite small, but bright and easy enough to read, even for me, a far sighted over the hill guy. I can't speak as to longevity or battery consumption as I have only had them a few weeks. but another positive is that they utilize C2032 button cells, a common and relatively inexpensive size. You shouldn't have to make a special trip to the specialty battery store when you need to replace them.

  • I would buy them again!

I keep one clipped to my acoustic guitar and one on my PJ bass. It is easy to clip them to the underside of the headstock - easy to see when needed and not in the way of the tuning pegs. Almost like they are built in!
