Wound with pure nickel, then precision ground, leaving the outer surface smooth and "semi-flat." They retain the flexibility and many of the tonal characteristics of round wound strings. Half Round heat-treating process increases the brightness of the strings. Long scale.

    Love em. Put em on my '94 Warwick. Took da "boominess" outta da bottom end w/out givin up anythin else. Great tone. Great sustain. Great feel. Best of all worlds.

  • really slick

    these strings are really amazing. i switched to these from ernie ball super slinkys and i love them. They really increase tone and cut down on noise, without losing any bright sound. I'm mainly a jazz and funk/rock player, and these give me smooth tone for jazz but also bright and punchy tone for slapping and playing rock.

  • Better than most bass strings

    This is the first time I've put a set of D'Addario ENR71 Semi-Flatwound bass strings on my Washburn Acoustic AB-10. I have tried a number of different strings looking for qualities that suit my style and these strings seem to fit the bill. The semi-flatwounds allow a much quietier slide within a shorter break-in (about 1/2 hour) than roundwounds and overall have a warmer sound than roundwounds. Being used to the constant retuning for the 1st week with nylon core strings, it was a real pleasure to stay in tune after the first day. The light guage of the strings really works well with the proper action. The low price is certainly a bonus.
