The sound and feel of a grand piano, in a smaller digital form.

The PX-780 is a stylish digital piano from Casio's Privia line that has a look as classy as its sound. The PX-780 has the grand piano sounds that you're looking for, plus 250 built-in tones with split and layer, so you can get that big piano feel in a much smaller space. This 88-key digital piano also features dual 20w speakers, USB MIDI and 3 pedals for realistic piano style playing. The keyboard is housed in a sturdy black cabinet with sliding keyboard to help protect your investment.

The award winning grand piano sound in Privia has been dramatically improved. The new PX-780 utilizes more than three times the memory of the previous generation for a more natural piano tone. In addition, Casio's new proprietary sound source "AiR" (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) provides unmatched realism and detail. This engine provides seamless dynamics for a remarkably expressive and powerful performance. For further realism a new Damper Resonance and Hammer Response simulator provides the rich sound of the strings when the sustain pedal is used.

The new PX-780 also features a new redesigned 88 note Tri-sensor scaled hammer action keyboard. This new action features new simulated Ebony and Ivory textured keys for an incredible feel and it's three sensors capture the dynamics of a performance with unparalleled speed and accuracy. To further enhance the experience, the action and the sound engine take into consideration the speed at which different sized hammers move inside acoustic grand relative to velocity the keys are pressed, this timing nuance provides the ultimate key to sound experience.

In additional to grand piano sounds, the PX-750 has many other instrument tones including strings, organs, electric pianos and bass. The PX-780 provides split and layer capability allowing you to play bass in your left hand and have two layered tones in your right. Duet mode splits the keyboard into two equal ranges, allowing student and teacher to use the piano simultaneously. A two track recorder can even record and playback your practice and performances. The matching keyboard cover, stand and pedal board make this a complete digital piano that is a welcome addition to any home d├Ęcor.

Casio continues the tradition of providing "class compliant" USB connectivity on Privia digital pianos. This allows Privia to be used with Mac or Windows computers without the need for downloading drivers. Class Compliant USB MIDI also allows Privia digital pianos can also be used as a controller the Apple iPad simply with the use of Apple's Camera Connection Kit.

To reproduce the sound of the finest acoustic grand pianos, the new Privia series features Casio's proprietary AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) processor. Accessing more than three times the memory of the previous generation, the AiR processor utilizes grand piano samples recorded at four dynamics sampling to deliver grand piano sounds with long natural decays and remarkable expression. To further the grand piano experience, AiR adds realism by simulating the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal.

  • Best Value Home Digital Piano under $1000

As reviewed by Paul R Schrier on 4/17/2013

Features: The PX-780 digital piano is almost identical in features to the Casio PX-350, with the main differences being in the greater power of the on-board amplification and speaker system and the included stand and 3-pedal floor system. Basically, the PX-780 is the home furniture version of the portable PX-350. All of the connectivity and sound features of the PX-350 are available on the PX-780 as well. The piano connects easily with USB and standard MIDI devices as well as audio input and output devices. The included USB device port also allows you to easily connect a USB thumb drive for data storage and WAV file recording of your performances. With all of the connectivity features, built-in rhythm and accompaniment features, and General Midi compatibility with 250 built-in sounds, there is not another digital piano that compares to the PX-780 for under $2000. And I forgot to mention, the 14 built-in acoustic piano voices are very convincing and realistic. The electric pianos are very good for the most part; the rest of the voices are acceptable and provide a reasonable variety of voices for most styles of music. The accompaniment and General MIDI features provide a great way to do a "one-man" act with a full backing band! Quality and Reliability: This piano appears to be well-built and solid on its included furniture-style stand. The keybed has a nice firm action and the ebony and ivory key tops mimic the feel of a real acoustic piano. I've only had the unit for a few weeks, but I have tested out all of the connectivity features (USB/MIDI/audio ins and outs), and they all work as advertised with no issues. I've even connected the unit to my PC via USB and my iPad with the Apple USB Camera Connection Kit with no issues whatsoever. Since the unit has a class compliant USB interface, no software drivers are required to interface with a MAC or PC. Look & Feel: The unit is well-designed with a very small footprint that can fit in virtually any room. However, the unit is light enough (under 70 pounds) to be easily moved when necessary. The black wood finish provides a classic look that stands out in any room. Overall, I have been extremely satisfied with this piano in terms of value, features, and sound quality. This piano compares well in quality and features with some of the much more expensive Yamaha Clavinolas. For the price, you just can't beat it!

  • Casio digital piano : PX780 review

As reviewed by Pubudu Goonetilleke on 10/28/2013

I purchased this Digital piano recently and I am very satisfied. I am not a pro but have played classical piano for several years and this feels almost the same as real piano. Sound quality and keys feel almost as my classical piano. Volume level is very good. (I typically play at 60% when I really need the sound). I looked at many other digital pianos and decided to buy this model based on cost and features this has. Other models with similar features costs much more and is not giving the real return where my main usage is for family entertainment/learning. My kid is now learning piano and he loves it a lot (than his keyboard). Auto accompaniment with about 180 rhythms is nice a nice add-on. Piano depth is about 12" and it is very convenient locate anywhere at home. However since this is thin (12"), it is unstable on my carpeted floor. So, I had move it to hardwood floor. Now it is very stable and kind of heavy too (Good for sound quality). Also this comes with default 1 year warranty but when registered online it extended to 3 years for manufacturing defects. I think I had a sweet deal with a Guitar Center coupon. Casio should include a piano bench as well. Since it is not included, I had to buy it separately from GC too. Overall I am very satisfied with this product. Shipping took more than two weeks because freight shipper (ABF) sent it NJ (E. coast) instead of OR (W. coast) by mistake. So I had to wait for than two weeks to get my items. I will update if I have anything new when time goes by . . . .......

  • Great Product - Outstanding Value!

As reviewed by Paul R Schrier on 4/22/2013

You won't find a better, more feature-laden digital piano for under $1000. Compare the quality and features of this product with the higher-end Yamaha Clavinolas. You will not be disappointed!
