I have worked with guitar tracks pro in the past and was very pleased..I just picked up the cakewalk v-20 and it is amazing..I can create a full blown song and publish it all in the same day. I also purchased sonar x-1 essentials and the v-20 interface works with it as well. The guitar tracks software that comes with the v-20 are the most simple and powerful tools avail. on the market. anybody with even the smallest lick of talent and very little computer or recording skills can navigate the v-20 with ease and create someting that sounds like it just came from the most professional studio!...best bang for your buck ....period!!!!!
First time using a product like this. Easy to get started and did everything I wanted to do better than I expected. For the price you can't go wrong. Everything you need to start recording in one package.
I purchased this unit after conducting countless hours of research on home based recording. I was drawn to it due to Cakewalk marketing the VS-20 as a solution for mobile recording, and for those of us with netbooks. I viewed all the available information at the Cakewalk website, read several reviews, and decided to give it a shot. I had compared it against units like the Line 6 UX2, and chose it due to its low computer system requirements, and previous experience with SONAR/Guitar Tracks; which I find to be very stable software programs, at least in my low-end computer. My ASUS 1201N netbook runs beautifully with this unit. Thus far I have recorded 2 tracks simultaneously, and edited/mixed up to 8 all with effects running. So far I have encountered no clicks, pops, or other issues. I will advise that I followed Cakewalks installation and set-up instructions very well, and only had one ASIO issue which the Guitar-Tracks software help-menu showed me how to correct quickly. Overall, I view this as a way for a beginner like me to enter home based, and mobile recording; as well as providing an interface that will grow with my hobby over time. To sum it up, this product delivers everything that Cakewalk promised and a few pleasant surprises too.
