Breedlove PURSUIT CONCERT Guitar

Breedlove PURSUIT CONCERT Guitar

Breedlove

Description

The Pursuit Concert captures Breedlove’s distinctively crafted sound in an affordable package. Exuding an earthy, warm response from a light touch, the cedar-mahogany wood set is one of the most esteemed tonewood combinations. The popular concert body top is made of solid cedar, producing mature tones that are detailed and pleasing. Mahogany graces the back and sides. Includes built-in USB port for easy interfacing with recording software.

Concert Body Shape
The Breedlove Concert is the original Breedlove shape. It first appeared in 1992, and has been the best-selling Breedlove body shape ever since. Designed specifically for the fingerstylist to be well-balanced, compact and comfortable to play, it generates a wonderfully articulate range of tone with an ample low end that is never boomy, but always felt. The unique construction also allows the Concert to sing even at a full strum. If you’re a fingerstylist, or are seeking an instrument to use as vocal accompaniment, this is the shape for you. The Concert is engineered to provide exceptional sustain with a pronounced bass response, both of which can be achieved with a light touch. The graduated top works in harmony with the Breedlove Bridge Truss to provide an even response throughout the lows, mids, and highs, with sustain, and clear, concise, note-for-note projection.

Breedlove Bridge Truss
The Breedlove Bridge Truss (BBT) reduces tension on the soundboard of the guitar, so the top wood is able to vibrate more freely, producing remarkable sustain, balance, and clarity. The BBT also allows for a thinner graduated top, thereby allowing Breedlove craftsmen to bring out the optimal sound from the top wood without sacrificing structural stability. Relieving much of the string tension from the bridge prevents “bridge belly,” ensuring top stability for decades. Guitar strings can exert up to 230 pounds of pull from the nut to the bridge. Traditional methods for preventing top bowing at the bridge usually involve heavy internal bracing and thicker tops. The BBT compensates for this pressure in an innovative way: The BBT is mounted to the bridge from the inside and is connected into the tail block of the guitar, pulling downward on the underside of the bridge to distribute some of the tension, relieving pressure on the top. The resulting tonal effect on BBT-equipped guitars is more resonance and livelier sound with enhanced overtones.

Breedlove Pinless Bridge
The Breedlove Pinless Bridge helps maintain the integrity of the top by eliminating the need for six drilled string holes. The fewer holes in your soundboard, the more evenly the sound wave can move across the interior, without any loss of energy. The Breedlove Pinless Bridge also provides a gentler string-break angle from the bridge to the top of the saddle, reducing saddle strain. This innovative bridge also makes string changes a breeze, especially on 12 strings. Plus, you’ll never again have to worry about lost, worn-out, or broken bridge pins.

Breedlove Neck
Breedlove guitars feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish also contributes to ideal playability. The labor-intensive finish process includes precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.

Set Up and Quality Assurance in Bend, Oregon
The comprehensive quality control process provides the player with an instrument that will play perfectly right out of the box. Prior to shipment, every Breedlove instrument undergoes a rigorous 25-to-30-point inspection in Bend, Oregon by their expert U.S. quality control team. They start with a visual inspection: checking aesthetic and structural elements of the body and components for flaws. Next, each guitar is tuned and undergoes a play test, where our craftspeople check nut height, relief, action and string height. Based on the results of the play test, they are adjusted for maximum playability. Finally, each instrument is buffed and polished by hand with painstaking attention to detail. Once the instrument has passed inspection, a signed QC sticker is placed, and the instrument is carefully packed and shipped.

Limited Lifetime Warranty
Breedlove players around the world can attest: With consistent, proper care, your Breedlove will give you a lifetime of service – and inspiration. New Breedlove instruments are warrantied to be free of defects in materials and workmanship throughout the lifetime of the original owner. In addition to materials and workmanship, Breedlove offers a two-year warranty on tuning machines and electronics packages.

WOW Factor at an Affordable Price !

To be completely honest, I never paid any attention to the Breedlove brand. I was looking for a decent acoustic/electric, but didn't have a big budget, so I was looking at everything in the $300 to $800 range (and $800 was REALLY stretching it). I spent hours at GC playing Martin, Taylor, Seagull, Yamaha, Fender, Takamine, Ibanez, and even Epiphone and Washburn brands, and multiple models of each of those brands. For giggles, I even played guitars that went for a little over $1000. Then my buddy saw the Breedlove, and it was GAME OVER ! We couldn't believe our ears ! We kept comparing what we previously thought was the best sounding one ( an $800 Taylor) to the Breedlove, and we agreed, the Breedlove unplugged sounded every bit as good (and arguably better) than the Taylor, but plugged in - kicked the Taylors butt ! Now I know, sound is subjective, and what sounds great to one person may not to another, but if your in the market for a good looking - great sounding acoustic/electric, you owe it to yourself to at least give this one a shot - I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Boxed Guitar NOT the Same as Demo or Description

I just purchased this guitar today after extensive research. It fit me perfectly. When I got home, the guitar in the box, which was labeled correctly as a Pursuit Concert, does not have the tortoise binding, but just a plain black binding, with some scuffing. Not at all pleased at the cosmetic portion, or the fact that I thought there would be a little tortoise detail to highlight the pleasing shape. I have contacted my GC store. I will change the rating if they can make good on this error somehow.

I am more than satisfied with this Breedlove Pursuit guitar, it is very well constructed, appealing to the eye, and sounds very mellow and has a nice solid projection. Its priced very reasonably and certainly, would fill the needs of most semi-pro musicians, or even pros. I researched many guitars before purchasing the Breedlove and found it to offer the most for the money. I have owned other more expensive instruments and I have to say that this guitar is just right for me. I find dreadnoughts, and jumbos way too cumbersome, and the concert style body by Breedlove feels just right when playing. Really nice looking quality instrument!

I researched a LOT of guitars before buying the Breedlove pursuit. It's a mid price guitar with a big, beautiful sound. Highly recommended!! The fishman electronics boosts perfectly through an amp or sound system, and the on board tuner is pretty handy.

I am disappointed. The online description listed tortoise binding. The guitar I received has plain black binding. I was lured in by this detail. Buyer beware!

Looked at the Breedlove Pursuit Concert acoustic after my Ibanz couldn't stop fret buzzing. I was amazed at the rich sound I was hearing unplugged and plugged in! It sounded as good as any high end Taylor in the GC store! Come to find out after doing some research that the two guys that started Breedlove were two luthiers that made guitars for Taylor! That is why when I played the Breedlove I was blown away by Amazing tone! Pull up Breedlove factory on the net. These guitars are made with some automation but still hand made too! Great guitar for the price! Sold on this product and guitar. Check out the NAMM reviews too!
