Blue Snowball Studio-Quality USB Condenser Microphone

Blue Snowball Studio-Quality USB Condenser Microphone

Snowball Studio, All-in-One Vocal Recording System

Snowball Studio, All-in-One Vocal Recording System

Blue
Description
With the Blue Snowball, you finally get a USB microphone that's not only easy to use, but also sounds as good on your desktop as it does in a professional recording studio. Whether you're recording a guitar at your kitchen table or a complete band in the studio, the Snowball mic captures them both with the kind of detail unheard of before in a USB microphone.

The Blue Snowball is a direct plug-and-play mic that connects to either a Mac or a PC computer-no additional software is needed. With its dual capsule design and unique 3-pattern switch (cardioid, cardioid with -10dB pad, and omni), the Snowball microphone handles everything from soft vocals to the loudest garage band-and it's an ideal mic for podcasting.

The Snowball microphone has a unique swivel mount located on the bottom center of the mic body. Be sure to position the Snowball over the center leg of the tripod (not included) to further prevent tipping. Once mounted, gently pivot the Blue Snowball microphone back and forth for optimum positioning in front of the sound source.

Once safely mounted, connect the Snowball to the USB port on your Macintosh or Windows computer. Make sure that the active, on-axis side of the diaphragm (the side with the BLUE logo) is facing the desired sound source. When connected, the LED just above the Blue logo will glow red, indicating power has reached the Snowball and the microphone is ready to roll.

EXCELLENT!!

This thing is great! I can't believe how good it sounds. I won't be going to those $80 an hour studios anymore! The ease of use is amazing, the quality is crazy. I highly recommend you get the stedman pop filter with this! It works great with the mic. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to get studio sound without a studio budget.

BUYER BEWARE! DON'T BUY IT!

My Advice. Don't buy it. It's a piece of junk. And once you find out, you're stuck with it. Here's the reason. Guitar Center has a policy of no returns on "voice" mics. So if something is wrong, you can't turn there. Ok, I'm thinking, I'll go to Blue. In my situation, the mic had extremely low audio output, EVEN AFTER DOWNLOADING THE FIRMWARE FROM BLUE"S WEBSITE. And the LED light never turned on (it should be on when the mic is working). So I emailed Blue directly. Listen to this. They informed me that it was my system at fault (I have a brand new high end Mac Intel tower). Sure, it's my fault that the LED doesn't light up at all! Then in another email, they said I "probably" didn't download the firmware properly (I'm am IT guy, and did it 3 times!). Bottom line: Blue said my mic was ok, can't get a replacement and they won't refund a cent. So I'm suck with this piece of junk. As they say in business law 101: "Let the buyer beware." My advice. Forget the USB hype and purchase a mic with a preamp (means you buy the mic and a separate $100 preamp). It might cost a little more but it's worth not having all the hassles. Don K., New York City

I am a small electronic producer and just am recording a variety of instruments and vocals through the snow ball. It has great sound quality, I dont have an interface so i do not have phantom power for condeser mics, but the snowball is AMAZING for a USB mic. Its very easy to use, and its nice it has 3 settings.

Plug it in and go. It does everything it claims to do. Records voice or instruments equally well. Isolates forward when you want it to for background noise reduction. Excellent piece of equipment. Especially for the price! You really cant go wrong with this mic. I use it everyday and love it.

  • Great mic for starters

I didn't think much of this mic when I first got it and friend of mine had it and used it with another mic for background vocals. But wow when I got it for myself and used it for recording lead vocals I couldn't believe the sound that came from it. I have done hundreds of songs with this mic and I would put its sound up against most USB mics. For as great as this mic works the price is practically a steal. If you know how to work with the program you have I can tell you that adding this guy to your small studio will give you close to professional sound. I might just stick with the Blue company from now on.
