I use this for an American P bass and an Ampeg bass amp. Set on "valve" it really warms up the tone and adds tube punch.

2nd purchase of this item. I've used it in live performances and in the studio. Very quiet. You can plug in your guitar and mic and send to a 1/4 inch and XLR input if you want to, so in a pinch it can be a mini-mixer! Warms up a guitar or mic.

I use a toneport gx for home recording . I couldn't get my vocals loud enough so I bought this. It works fairly well for giving me more vocal volume in my DAW software. It's a great little product and if you need more volume for your pc based recordings get this. I also plugged my axe into this and it gives a nice warm tube sound to my axe. It's no stacked tube amp mind you but the clean tones are warm and bright. Only down side is no off switch on the unit so you have to unplug it. It is well work the change it cost so get it already.

Befor I Got This, My band was using a mixing board for phantom power and there was alot of static and some latency. This Cleaned All that up and really warmed up the sound. It seems to work best after being on for about 5 mins maybe to allow the tube to warm up,

I bought this because I have a 4 channel audio interface that doesn't have preamps, so I needed alot. These were cheap and as a mic preamp they had everything I needed (phase reverse, phantom power). They appear to work great. I've run an sm57 and a generic condenser mic through them and both sound very good. I tried using it to run my bass straight into the mix. I wasn't particularly impressed. I don't think it has great bass response. It sounds pretty muddy. I should note that my bass is both new and cheap, so I'm not completely sure that I don't just have a muddy sounding bass! The application where this thing really shines is as a guitar preamp. I have a big Crate amp and I have never been a fan of its "sound". But, I used its line-in to bypass the built in preamp and effects with this preamp. The result is fantastic! Very clear, light sound to it. When I crank up the gain it sound like I'm getting real tube distortion. It goes through a light crunch and then on to heavy crunchy/fuzzy goodness. I never expected to use it in this application, but I am floored at the results. I may well get a few more just to run different guitar setups!

This thing is great. I don't use it live because I have a mixer with a built-in pre, but for home recording, it is awesome. It really beefs up the sound and makes everything sound that much better. IT might be in the lower-price range, but it definitely beats alot of the two-to-three hundred dollar pre's I've tried.
