This mics. are great specialist the D-6, i used shure B52's, shure beta 91 and AKG D112 but this is the best kick drum mic. i've ever use. and the D-4 is a beast.
I've had this set of mic's for about 4 years now. I've used them inside and out, dropped them, smacked them with sticks, in short all the general abuse a drum mic gets. Not once did these mics ever fail me or fall short on a task! I've even had venue sound people opt to use my mics rather then the 'house' mics once they found out I had the Audix. Superior sound and an American company as well. You get what you pay for, and, IMO, you can't go wrong with these mic's. The set does not include overhead condenser(s), but that just means you can get what you really want or need, not just what's included. I'm very happy with these mics.
The mics, the accessories, and the case are all quality parts. The sound from the microphones really let you get the sound that you want and they are also versatile. the clips hold on to the drums quite well, and it is very easy to pack the kit up and take it out. I bought this one over the more expensive Audix kits because this is the same one, it just doesn't come with the condenser overheads, which gives me more options. Very good quality at a good price.
