The Audio-Technica PRO 35 clip-on microphone is designed for sax, brass, toms, and percussion. The PRO35 is a cardioid condenser mic that excels in high-SPL (sound pressure level) applications and is ideal for active stage performances. Its extended frequency response captures subtle nuances of the performance. The included UniMount clip permits accurate positioning and provides shock resistance while protecting the element. The microphone's cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of the desired sound source.
•The A-T PRO 35 includes the AT8538 power module, which accepts the PRO 35's locking cable connector and terminates to an XLR male connector for a wired connection to a mixing console etc.
(If you're looking for a wireless solution, the A-T PRO 35cW terminates to a 4-pin connector for use with A-T UniPak bodypack wireless transmitters.)
Requires phantom power.

My three piece horn section (trumpet, trombone, soprano/alto/tenor sax) uses these mics along with A-T wireless rigs in numerous gigs. You can't beat this mic for horns! We are able to wander all over the venue playing which gets a great crowd response. The ruggedness and sound quality of this mic is unbeatable. I have also used this mic in a church setting playing classical trumpet pieces. It has NEVER let me down.
I was a little skeptical about this mic at first for a saxophone being that its fairly cheap, but I was pleasantly suprised by its response to my sound. I very rarely have gotten a true sound with many different mics, but mixed correctly this thing is amazing. You'll need to turn down the lows so you do not get distortion in the lower notes (common with most clip on mics) and same thing with the high so it does sound like a whine. Used this on soprano sax playing for a wedding (Hooked up to a JBL PA Speaker) and use it at church every sunday on Tenor and Soprano. Each horn needs to be mixed differently so don't expect to switch back and forth alot unless your sound guy is awesome or you're working your own sound. You get some key noise, but not enough to ruin a sound or any performance. All in all, this was a great purchase and I would recommend as one of the best cheaper solutions for a sax mic.
this little mic is great for accoustic instruments and belive it or not it sounds great on a banjo and a mandolin it really keeps the accoustic sounds but doesnt take away the highs or lows. the only thing that keeps this mic from being better is that it doesnt have other types of clips for it but if you get it you be surpised at how good it works in many different situations and instruments
