Particularly exceptional for Low Freqs

Dont get me wrong, it is a great all around condenser/cardiod, but for some reason it sounded particularly better for lower frequency vocals. Of course for its price and class it gets the job done flawlessly. Nice, accurate sound.

LOTS OF MIC FOR THE $$

I first started using the Audio-Technica AT4040 in 2002 and have found it to be a very versatile mic. It sounds good on vocals and also works fine on instruments like acoustic guitar and percussion. Transients are captured very well and the mic has a very pleasing overall tonality to it. The highs are smooth without being tiresome and the lows are rich and smooth. If you have a home studio and want a great mic for not much money, you'd be hard pressed to do better than the AT4040!

Great Improvement

I am a drummer in a band but also deal with the recording part for the band. Our singer aquired an SM 58 Beta which is great for live gigs but did not satisfy us when recording. We have used the SM 58 Beta for recording for the past 3 years and were somewhat pleased with the results. Our singer just recently bought this microphone and the difference was noticed immediatly when the first verse was recorded and listened to. It improved the quality of the sound a lot and now we are very satisfied with our vocal tracks.

MIC CHECK

I couldn't be more pleased with my 40/40. if you do any audio recording what so ever you know that it all comes down to the mic. The sale price on this particular mic is well worth it. From whispers to high intensity recordings this mic does the trick. Great buy.

I Like It

I needed to buy a lg condenser for my home studio. After studying reviews and a try out with a demo I bought the 4040 about 3 years ago. I'm not an expert on condensers (this is my first) but I like how my voice sounds recording with this mic and thats all that matters-right??
