Small-format mulitpurpose USB-equipped mixer with 10 inputs and built-in effects.

The ZED-10FX is an amazing, compact desktop mixer, ideal for small band mixing. It is ultra portable for carrying to the gig, and can be used for recording live or in the studio. Guitars can be plugged in directly to the mixer using the specially designed high-impedance inputs, while the mixer has two stereo inputs for MP3/CD players or keyboards. It is also equipped with professional XLR main stereo outputs and a flexible monitoring section with headphone and speaker feed outputs. Unlike it's sibling, the ZED-10, the ZED-10FX also boasts a set of fabulous effects to give shimmering reverbs and enhance your sound.

The ZED-10FX is great for live mixing. The layout makes it very simple to use and easy to achieve a great sound. It can be used for recording a live show, and can also be used for an audio project at home that you can build up track by track using the USB digital audio interface.

The flexibility, quality, and price-point of this mixer makes it stand out from the crowd. You can plug your guitars or instruments straight into the class A discrete FET high impedance inputs, it can accommodate up to four microphones, two stereo sources with MP3 player compatibility, and separate 2-track record outputs. It also has a stereo playback input for 2-track replay or perhaps interval music from a CD player, XLR main stereo outputs with inserts, comprehensive monitoring with headphones, and separate monitor speaker outputs, 48V microphone phantom power, DI level switching for sub mixing, and last but not least, the same digital effects algorithms as those used on Allen & Heath's flagship digital consoles costing 150 times as much.

  • Great Features and Most Importantly Great Sound

As reviewed by Dean-o on 9/1/2011

I just picked up the Zed 10FX and am using it with my iMac via USB as my primary I/O and all around project mixer. For starts i have a massive 100% lossles collection of music on iTunes. The monitor output of this board feeds my near field monitors in my computer / music room. The Main out feeds a high end audio system in my den. This board sounds GREAT in both rooms and man I have a nice set of PSB speakers in my den. The board is quiet and capable of driving high level outputs with no preceivable distortion (I run the signals hot to the den to aviod dimmer noise from my high hats in there) In my computer room, my keyboards and vocals sound great, much better than my old mackie CFX that once ran this setup. I will record with it soon and I'm sure it will be fine. The FX are pretty good sounding once you spend the time figuring out how to tweak delay time and the one paramter offered if necessary. I found a few dely/reverb dettings that sound great on vocals. I'm very happy with teh effects. There are some pretty neat high impedance guitar imput features including a second harmonic generating overdrive available on thei high z input. I'm a keyboard guy not a guitarist so i have not played with this input. Cool feature for a small project board though. Only draw back is the USB interface is only a stereo input to my Mac. But hey, for the price, I rather have solid audio performance and features in the analog aspect of the mixer. Overal, as this is a primary pre-amp to two rooms with high end gear, I say this board sounds fantastic and blows both my old Mackie's away. I'm sure the newer Makie Onyx is good though. OK, thumbs up A&H

  • Clean, Transparent, Natural Sound - Fabulous Board!

As reviewed by Jerry Robbins on 4/9/2012

I just did my first gig with my new ZED10FX. I'm very pleased. It has ACRES of headroom and a clean, transparent sound. I plugged my synth into a guitar input - it sounded warm and natural. My sax sounded great through a guitar input, as well. The vocal mic sounded better than ever. The onboard effects are useful; I decided on 'Ambient' as the general purpose reverb. I played backup tracks from a Windows laptop via the handy USB connection. The level was perfect and consistent. (I had been using the laptop's headphone jack.) I was not able to play my tracks and record the gig at the same time on the laptop due to a slight noise generated by, I suspect, the USB channel. I will continue to explore this, however. I highly recommend this board for solo and small group gigs. The knobs work well, I now prefer them to faders.
