The original Tube MP made pro-caliber tube preamping available to ordinary musicians and home studios. The MP Studio goes a step further by adding a VU meter for better level control and ART's OPL (Output Protection Limiter), which controls and maintains the output peak signal to protect hard-disk recording systems and soundcards. The VU meter reflects the impact of the OPL circuitry when it is activated, which allows more effective fine tuning of the audio signal. It is a valuable tool for recording in project and home studios and can also function as a DI box with impedance matching and preamplification for line-level sources. Includes a 3-year warranty.

ART has been making neat little boxes like this for a while now. They used to be pretty impressive, but I think they have not kept up with technology and or improved much on their products. This one is average at best for sound quality. But this one gets the benefit of the doubt for value. This is advertised as a studio recording preamp, however this little bugger is too noisy for producing a clean track. I suspect that the noise comes from a cheap tube, maybe I'll replace it.
But I will probably find a use for it in live sound as a DI box, the +20 dB boost will be nice for week signals from keyboards or cheap dynamic mics, maybe. Worked pretty good as boost/preamp for my old Jazz Bass with passive pickups. This is not a stellar piece of equipment, however at this price its not worth returning, Its still a handy little device.

Sounds great -- replace the tube with the best you can afford
I replaced the Chinese tube with a NOS Telefunken 12AX7 and it really improved the sound. It's not the quietest mic preamp I have ever used. You got to be careful about how much gain you use -- enough gain to cover up the noise but not some much that you are driving it hard.
Jazz vocals are really much better, more lush and with a nice bloom. Don't know about anything else bu I plan to try guitar and keyboards.
Can't tell about quality and reliability yet. Have only had it one day.
I've had this preamp for nearly a year, and it's an amazing little box. It's great for electric guitar or bass. The +20 dB gain switch provides the perfect amount of "singing" distortion in combination with my amp-modeling pedal, with the signal routed from the TubeMP to the clean channel of a Fender amp, or another effect box. Sans +20 gain is good too, especially for singing. And it sounds great miking my acoustic guitar with an instrument mic.
They're such a good price, I think I may get one or two more!
