beyerdynamic MC 950 True Condenser Microphone

Description
When precision and separation are critical, a small-diaphragm condenser microphone provides the control needed for detailed capture. The beyerdynamic MC 950 true condenser microphone is designed for studio recording and live applications where clarity and off-axis rejection are essential. Its supercardioid polar pattern reduces bleed from surrounding sources, while the true condenser capsule delivers fast transient response for accurate reproduction of instruments such as piano, overheads and percussion. With a 40Hz–20kHz frequency response, high sensitivity and low self-noise, the MC 950 captures both subtle detail and dynamic performances, making it a dependable option for engineers working in complex recording environments.
Supercardioid Pickup Pattern Improves Separation and Control
The MC 950 mic leverages a supercardioid polar pattern to focus on the intended source while minimizing bleed from adjacent instruments. This is especially useful in ensemble recordings, drum overhead placement and live stage environments where isolation is critical. The microphone’s off-axis rejection helps maintain channel separation, allowing engineers to shape mixes with greater precision. Whether positioned for close-miking or overhead use, the pickup pattern supports consistent, controlled signal capture.
True Condenser Capsule Delivers Fast Transient Response and Detail
At the core of the MC 950 is a true condenser capsule designed for high impulse fidelity and accurate transient reproduction. Its sensitivity of 35 mV/Pa (-29 dBV) ensures strong output, while the frequency range of 40Hz–20kHz captures both low-end body and high-frequency detail. With a maximum SPL of up to 139 dB and a low equivalent noise level of 15 dB, the microphone handles dynamic sources while preserving clarity, making it suitable for both delicate passages and higher-output instruments.
Switchable Attenuation and Low-Cut Filter Adapt to Recording Conditions
The MC 950 includes a switchable attenuation pad and a low-cut filter at 250Hz, allowing users to manage signal levels and reduce unwanted low-frequency buildup. These controls help maintain clarity when recording louder sources or working in rooms with ambient noise. Combined with compatibility across a range of preamps and standard phantom power operation (11–52V), the microphone integrates easily into existing studio and live sound setups.
Compact, Handmade Design Supports Flexible Studio and Live Use
Handmade in Germany, the MC 950 features a compact, lightweight design that fits easily into tight recording setups and multi-mic configurations. Its slim profile allows precise placement for instruments, overheads and ensemble recording, while the durable construction supports repeated use in both studio and stage environments. With its combination of controlled pickup, detailed response and practical design, the beyerdynamic MC 950 true condenser microphone provides a reliable solution for capturing clear, separated audio across a wide range of applications.
