Martin Standard Series Acoustic Guitars
Description
The Martin D-45 Standard Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar brings coveted vintage tone to today's players. Martin's flagship dreadnought, the D-45 is crafted using premium materials and time-honored techniques, now with innovative updates for effortless playability. The solid spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides are paired with scalloped "X" bracing, producing a punchy low end, shimmering highs and rich overtones reminiscent of 1930s Martins. The modified low-oval neck has a slimmer taper and 1-3/4" nut for comfortable fretting. Whether recording or performing, the D-45 Standard dreadnought delivers iconic tone with modern precision.
Scalloped "X" Bracing Provides Golden Era Sound
At the heart of the D-45 Standard's vintage tone is forward-shifted scalloped "X" bracing, found on Martins from 1931 to 1939. This bracing pattern gives dreadnoughts like the D-18, D-28 and original D-45 a warm, balanced tone with articulate bass and crisp treble. Highly prized by musicians and collectors, scalloped "X"-braced Martins are renowned for their clear, punchy sound. The D-45 Standard brings this coveted tonewood combination and bracing pattern together, recreating the iconic sound of 1930s dreadnoughts.
Premium Solid Tonewoods Age Gracefully
As with any premium Martin, the D-45 Standard's solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides improve with age and playing time. The spruce top opens up, producing richer overtones and enhanced resonance and the rosewood gains warmth and depth. Martin's dovetail neck joint, where the neck meets the body, provides strength and stability as the tonewoods age. Every strum and chord played on the D-45 Standard helps the instrument reach its full tonal potential.
Antique Appointments and Aged Toner Finish
To complement its vintage-inspired tone, the D-45 Standard dreadnought features antique appointments like butterbean gold tuners, 45-style pearl inlay and an aged toner finish. The aged toner finish gives the guitar a worn-in, prewar look while allowing the tonewoods to breathe and resonate freely. Ebony accents, like the fingerboard and bridge, provide crisp note articulation. With premium tonewoods, scalloped bracing and antique visuals, the D-45 Standard delivers coveted prewar style and sound.
