I own 2 of these Crown XLS 2502 amplifiers as well as a Crown XLS 2500. I've compared their sound to High Fidelity amplifiers from both Sonic Frontier and Adcom GFA 5802 amps. All of these amplifiers have their own sonic signature but frankly without a quick AB comparison it becomes evident that these Crown amps are suitable for Home Entertainment listening or sound reinforcement. They are clean and effortless in their power delivery and they run quietly. They are an excellent value. The only negative is that the RCA inputs seem to be more sensitive to ground loop interference than the Adcom and Sonic Frontier amplifiers. The only impact is that you need to be more careful in how you route your AC and line levels cables.
Excellent choice for band use or home entertainment

I've compared the Crown XLS 2502 to an Adcom 5802 as well as a Sonic Frontier tube amp in a high resolution stereo with Martin Logan electrostatic speakers. The Crown is clean and powerful. The highs are not harsh. The midrange is a bit cooler (more recessed) than the Adcom and Sonic Frontiers amp but still good on the Crown. Super low level detail (air in the room) is not quite as good on the Crown but the difference is subtle. In my view the Crown performs well in a high fidelity system but is slightly drier (cooler) sounding than the Adcom and Sonic Frontier. The Crown is an excellent value amplifier.
Didn't think it would be enough. I was wrong!

First off. Guitar center is awesome! Bought used Behtenger ep4000 from them but it didn't have the power I needed and the fan didn't work. Took I back to the store and exchanged no questions asked for a new Crown XLS2500. specs were lower than the ep so I was worried it would not be enough for the Rockville 2000 watt 8ohm 18 inch subwoofer but man I was wrong! I was only planning to use it temporarily until I could get a bigger one. Well the crown will stay. The controls are many and easy to use. The power is GREAT! I use in home on a PA system set up to just rock out and karaoke. I bridged it and turned it up not even half way. My wife said she could hear dishes rattling in the cabinets lol. I am really happy with this amp. It is my first crown and now I understand the hype. I am sold.
Great Product . Not so Good of Follow -Up Service.

I am using this amp to power my main 2 channel stereo system. I am using an Onkyo AVR as my pre-amp. I use this system for music listening during parties, and on my own as well. I generally like to listen at fairly high volumes. Running in stereo mode, this amp has plenty of power (440 watts at 8 ohm) for a large set of floor speakers. It can also be run in bridged mode as a mono block amp, for some serious wattage. This amp seemed to bring a richness to what I was normally used to hearing, in a good sense. But that may just be the extra head room I'm getting with this amp. The AVR I'm using is only 140 watts per channel. And I used to push it pretty hard. But bottom line is, this amp has power to spair, and after many hours of listening at fairly high volumes, I've never even felt a little bit of heat coming from the amp. So it sounds good to my ears, and seems to do all I ask of it with ease and power to spair.
Very Nice!!!

1. what is the impedance for the speakers? 2. How many watts is it an amplifier? How many watts (Rms) per channel? 3. can i use 3rd speaker?
It can power 8, 4, or 2 ohm loads and can be bridged for 8 or 4 ohm mono operation.
