strandberg Boden Prog NX 7 7-String Electric Guitar Twilight Purple
Description
The innovative Boden Prog NX 7 from Strandberg is a 7-string guitar providing groundbreaking design and construction for versatile playability and tone. Its chambered swamp ash body with maple top produces a resonant yet biting tone, enhanced by a Richlite fretboard. The result is an exceptionally lightweight instrument with reduced arm tension for comfortable extended play.
Groundbreaking 7-String Design
The Boden Prog NX 7 features a pioneering design with a 25.5 to 26.25" scale length, ideal for lower tunings. It has a patented EndurNeck profile, with its unique shape providing both comfort and strength to your forearm and wrist, allowing you to play longer without fatigue and with improved technique for fast playability across all seven strings. A deep cutaway provides easy access to higher frets, enabling wide-ranging soloing and chord voicings.
Resonant Tonewood Construction
A chambered swamp ash body topped with maple top gives the Boden Prog NX 7 a resonant yet focused tone with clear highs. The Richlite fretboard further enhances clarity and sustain. Together, these tonewoods produce a cutting tone suited for any musical style from rock to jazz fusion.
Smooth Tremolo Performance
The EGS Pro Rev7 tremolo system provides an extremely responsive feel for expressive performance. Its fulcrum design preserves the open tone of the guitar, enabling a shimmering, chorusing quality. Self-locking saddles facilitate quick adjustments to string height and intonation for optimal playability.
Versatile Electronics
Fishman Fluence pickups, including the Fluence Modern ceramic bridge pickup and alnico neck pickup, deliver a wide range of tones from natural acoustic to high-gain. Simply roll the volume or tone knob or transition between pickups for an array of single-coil and humbucking sounds suited for any genre.

So, you have played them all. Then you need to play this. It takes guts to reimagine the guitar without losing its essence and they have done it. The fit and finish is awesome, the pickups emulate many famous guitars. The neck design will relieve stress on your hand.

First up, this guitar is a lot better looking in person, in my opinion, than the pictures. I went in to look at a blue version and walked out with the purple. The guitar is super light, sounds great, and I find the neck profile very comfortable for a 7 string. This guitar sounds bright and articulate, to me. The fret board is smooth with excellent fret ends without sharp edges, and the ergonomics of the body are probably the best of any guitar I own, especially since I like to practice in many different positions. The tremolo feels very smooth and sturdy, but it's my first time with this proprietary system so time will tell how much extra work it'll be to keep in tune (if any). So far so good, I've had to adjust it a couple times, but it's been fairly close and it's brand new. The included gig bag is excellent, very thick padding and the included rain sleeve that tucks away in its own compartment is a nice touch. The tiny multi tool looks like it could be easy to lose, as the included magnet isn't super strong, but the tool is nice and very useful. I was not overly impressed with the quality of the routes for the pickups and bridge, especially at this price. Maybe that's being too picky, but I've got a Steinberger Spirit that was less than a quarter of the price and it has very clean routes. That's about the only "con" I have right now. **Bonus** - as long as you use the included spacers in a "Hercules" Autogrip brand wall mount, this guitar will hang and lock securely. It's a tight fit but it works and is very secure (without the spacers, it's not tight enough and may fall!). I was worried I'd need to buy another wall mount, but this works for me.
