Comments about dbx 120A Subharmonic Synth:

It's a really nice device If you want deep and extended bass and It helps you to keep the "original program" bass. The only bad thing is that its not so easy to get the proper set.

Really nice bottom end

Comments about dbx 120A Subharmonic Synth:

I installed an JBL EON system in a game room for a client that loves it loud, he and I were front and center for Pink Floyd at Sun-devil stadium with JBL surround sound years ago. The system has 2 wall mounted 515s and the 518 sub on a Mackie 802VLZ with a media server PC, cable box and X-Box as inputs. The system sounds great and the client loves it but the sub just needed a bit more to really come alive and pushing the mixer EQs just wasn't doing it. I added the dbx 120A today and WOW!!! After setting it up, I was amazed how the system woke up. The x-over in the dbx works better than the one in the EON sub. There is plenty of adjustment to really tailor the bottom end to you liking. There is a sub level control and a separate control for the sub-sonic levels and how they blend with true bass. Separate level controls also for the low bass and really low base are also very nice. Very clean sounding and musical when tuned well. I like it better than the sub-sonic filter in the Drive-rack units that I use a-lot. I spent hours listening to all kinds of music and some action movies and had to run from the cops a bit on NFS Hot Pursuit and you could feel the bass in your chest like a live show or night club, we won't talk about sunglasses or keys falling off the counter or the garage door rattling in the front of the house. A really great product that I will use again - highly recommended...

Comments about dbx 120A Subharmonic Synth:

This replaced a Behringer UltraBass rack mount. I am just blown away at how versatile this thing really is.

If you have waaay more sub and waaay more power than you really need, get this !!!

You have to be careful to not try to get just any sub to produce the lows that come out of this unit. I have two custom 18 boxes that reasonably get down to 36, but I have a HPF that cuts everything below that. Using this will also suck dry a 2400W amp dedicated to the subs.

With some common sense, you can get some amazing bass.

The dual bands make dialing-in the rumble and shake quite easy. It has a built-in crossover, too. I wish it had a built-in compressor for the lows, but I have an ancient compressor that now gets used to keep me from totally destroying my subs.

Again, my only advice....Physics. You can not get 26Hz @ 110db out of just about any speaker a normal person can purchase, no matter what the specs say. If you try to get lows out of your subs that they can not physically produce, it will sound horrible and you _will_ damage the speaker/driver, not to mention wasting an immense amount of amp power. Most subs will fall off around 40 and that's fine. Just be careful with the adjustment knobs for the super lows. Maybe even think about getting some kind of High Pass Filter or parametric EQ that will cut below 40...

I think that if you have reasonable expectations from this device, you can certainly improve your rig... especially a DJ.
