TG D71c boundary microphone for miking percussion instruments

TG D71c boundary microphone for miking percussion instruments

Description

Every drummer or engineer working to capture punchy, controlled low end knows the importance of a bass drum sound that translates with authority across any system. The beyerdynamic TG D71 condenser boundary kick drum microphone is designed for this role, pairing a compact, rugged housing with a condenser capsule capable of handling up to 148dB SPL. Its half-cardioid pickup pattern and tailored 25Hz–20kHz frequency response capture deep lows and fast transient attack, while the non-slip base and integrated preamp simplify placement and maintain consistent phase. With these design elements, engineers and players can approach demanding sessions with confidence, knowing their low-frequency sources will remain powerful and controlled.

Fast Transient Response for Punchy Low-End Capture

With its integrated preamp and condenser capsule design, the TG D71 responds quickly to high SPL and transient-heavy sources. A tailored 25Hz–20kHz frequency response captures deep low-end weight while preserving clarity in the attack, helping kick drums and percussion sit naturally in the mix. The microphone maintains punch and articulation even at levels approaching 148dB SPL, making it well suited for demanding live and studio environments. Finally, a red status LED confirms phantom power operation, providing immediate visual feedback during setup and recording.

Low-Profile Boundary Design for Stable Placement

The TG D71 features a slim, durable housing built to withstand daily stage use and transport. A non-slip rubber underside keeps the microphone securely positioned inside a bass drum or on flat surfaces such as piano soundboards. The compact footprint minimizes movement and preserves consistent tone and phase alignment between takes, helping maintain reliable results across sessions and performances.

Optimized for Studio and Stage Scenarios

In live venues and recording studios, the TG D71’s half-cardioid pattern and mounting holes support flexible placement, from inside a kick drum to permanent installations on stage risers or piano frames. The low-profile design reduces visual clutter while maintaining stable performance in fast-paced environments. Whether used for kick drum, percussion or other low-frequency sources, the beyerdynamic TG D71 condenser boundary mic delivers dependable kick drum capture for both studio and live applications.
