Overview

As a leader in cymbal making, Zildjian is always looking for new and innovative ways to bring a better musical experience to the drumming community. One area where drummers commonly express difficulty is lowering or dampening cymbal volume for practice and smaller gigs, or for the sake of close or sensitive neighbors. To really practice, it’s best to just play as you normally would, rather than ease up to cut volume. Zildjian has come up with an ideal solution—the Low Volume Family of cymbals.

Through tireless research and development, a specialized pattern was achieved to deliver the best of both worlds: musicality and lower volume. This innovative pattern is combined with a special proprietary alloy with a unique matte finish that enables the Low Volume cymbal to have fewer high frequencies and is up to 80% quieter than a traditional cymbal.

Features

14 in. L80 Low Volume hi-hat pair

3. The cymbal was bought second-hand or used in a lease program.

Comments about Zildjian L80 Series LV468 Low Volume Cymbal Box Set:

Bought these cymbals for practice. They are perfectly suited for that. I have the Aquarian practice heads on my set. I can play all day and not disturb anyone. Also great on my own ears. Great invention.

Comments about Zildjian L80 Series LV468 Low Volume Cymbal Box Set:

I love these cymbals. I was very much impressed with them. They sound better and quieter than I thought they would be. I have 2 drum sets. One has my regular Zildjan K and ZHT cymbals and the other one now has these cymbals on it so I can play even late hours at night if I want to and not worry about any neighbors hearing me.

The product is great awesome sound, but not to loud. You still get the feel of the traditional cymbal, but
without the loud crash that comes with regular cymbals.

Comments about Zildjian L80 Series LV468 Low Volume Cymbal Box Set:

I practice in a pole barn/detached garage that does not have any sound instillation. Along with Remo Silentstroke drum heads, I can now practice, playing full out, almost any time of the day, and I don't disturb neighbors of my family in our home.

Do exactly what they say. Crash is just a wee bit to quiet .but, perfect for practice. As a side note , also threw a high hat on a 16' a custom as a stacker and got exactly the trash I was looking for on "N. Young. Like a hurricane. Ride also works great for small room , acoustic gigs.

Comments about Zildjian L80 Series LV468 Low Volume Cymbal Box Set:

There are two parts of this review, both of which are equally important...
Let me start off by saying that these cymbals are excellent for what they are- a reduced dB practice set and educational tool. They are far less obtrusive than traditional cymbals but maintain enough tone, playability, and flexibility to give you plenty of headroom. I liked them enough to purchase the 20" ride and the 10" splash to complete my practice rig. There are some odd frequencies between each cymbal (16" crash sounds deeper than the 18" crash/ride; ping-y at times) but after the initial period of being slightly distracted by this the cymbals feel totally playable. Otherwise, this is a very good set for someone whom lives with noise restraints and for those whom want to practice for more hours in a day without sacrificing their hearing (or getting a visit from angry neighbors). I will also say that you really need to hear these in person before buying as they are NOT butterfly-wing-flap quiet as some YouTube videos suggest. They are still cymbals. They will still wake your kids up if your practice area is not isolated.

My second part of this review is about Guitar Center specifically. I went in to one of the stores to ask if they had this L80 pack in stock, which they did not. So one of the managers helped me order the set in store using an e-coupon and talked me into having it shipped to the store rather than my home. They said it would be 3-7 days and they would send an email when it was ready. After the first week, UPS said it had been delivered so i went in the day after since i was already nearby. They said it wasn't ready so i waited another 5 days only to end up on the phone for a total of 3 hours trying to track them down. I was told it was a UPS error multiple times and that they never got the delivery. After speaking with someone at the service center and the store manager about my frustrations, they magically showed up at the store. Hopefully this was a fluke, we'll see.

Comments about Zildjian L80 Series LV468 Low Volume Cymbal Box Set:

These are wonderful for my practice kit. I really wish these were developed when I lived at home, or first started playing. Better late then never tho. I bought the 14/16/18 set and went back to GC today to buy the full size ride and splash. Up until now I had the rubber mutes on my cymbals on my practice kit which were tolerable. These are slightly louder but are worlds above using rubber mutes.

I really like these cymbals, as advertised they are very quiet. I can practice one room over and you can barely hear them in the rest of the house. Gives you the same feel as a regular cymbal so it doesn't affect your playing.
