Overview

The RS502T represents the purest expression of the Revstar design concept. Balanced perfectly on the point where familiarity and uniqueness coincide, the RS502T is everything you hope it’ll be, with custom-built hardware, the unique Revstar shape, and a tone that inspires. Includes gig bag.

Pickups
Designed from the ground up, Revstar features specially wound YGD pickups that are perfectly matched to each guitar. More than 50 prototype pickups were tested featuring different combinations of wire, windings, magnets and base plates. Eventually, a spec was settled on for each guitar model and the Revstar pickup series was born. This model features VP5 pickups (8.3k DCR) with Alnico V magnets, German silver baseplate and plain enamel wire for clear, vintage tone with bite.

Dry Switch
Designed especially for Revstar, Yamaha's proprietary Dry Switch gives you the versatility of a coil split, but with a tone that's miles ahead. Using a passive filter circuit painstakingly designed to give the perfect frequency response, the Dry Switch filters out low frequencies to give the punch and clarity of a single coil pickup minus the inevitable hum and hollow tone often associated with split humbucking pickups. And because it's a filter circuit, the Dry Switch works on both humbuckers and P90s for a totally unique, usable tone.

Custom Hardware
Inspired by the stripped-down custom Café Racer motorbikes popularized on the streets of London in the 1960s, Revstar's hardware captures the high-performance, individual character of those bikes with a wide range of totally unique, customized hardware. From the unique pickup covers and raw copper scratchplate on the Revstar Professional, to the totally custom floating aluminum tailpiece on the RS502T, each and every component is perfectly calibrated for great performance and unmistakable style—capturing the very essence of a Café Racer.

Sound Image
Inspired by raw power and performance, Revstar's sound is as unique and bold as its aesthetic. Working to evoke a visceral, unbridled power and an individual, organic tone that is made possible only by considering every detail, Yamaha's engineers chose materials carefully and designed custom pickups to make sure Revstar sounds as stunning as it looks.

Comments about Yamaha Revstar RS502T Electric Guitar:

Great sounding P90s and a wonderful retro look and feel. The quality exudes throughout this guitar. The "dry" switch is very effective and is reminescent of the Reverend "contour" tone control. Solid mahogany neck and body with a gorgeous deep green maple cap. Floating aluminum bridge that you can 'waggle' for some interesting trem effects. Great p90 style pickups-smooth if you want and biting if you need it. Very happy with this axe. Highly recommended.

Comments about Yamaha Revstar RS502T Electric Guitar:

From the moment I saw this new line from Yamaha, I was impressed with the cool shape, the cool color combinations, and the upgrades in options model to model. on my 502T I especially loved the brushed nickel back-plate, machine heads and pots. Love the crunch of the P 90 pick ups and the push-pull dry switch provides even more pop. Neck feel is awesome. It is such a different look and feel from my other guitars (why I wanted one) and will become a prominent player at sessions and gigs.

Comments about Yamaha Revstar RS502T Electric Guitar:

This is one of the best 'mid priced' guitar buys I've come across in a long time. I own many (many) electric and acoustic guitars across all price ranges and feel like this guitar is a true sleeper. I picked it up on impulse at my local store (figuring it sounded as weird as it looked) and couldn't put it down. I took it home that day. The first thing you'll notice is the feel - it feels expensive, and the fit and finish (including the custom nickel hardware) is really beautiful even up close. The odd shape actually fits the body well thanks to a great contour in the back - and the neck is thick but slightly flatter (and wider) than a Les Paul. It feels great and meaty to play. As for the pickups, I've had mixed results with P90s and recently had let go of a new guitar with P90s cause it just didn't stack up. This guitar's proprietary pickups are perfectly matched to the guitar, with low(fish) noise and a thick bottom, excellent midrange and highs. The 3 way switch is accompanied by a high pass pull pot that rolls off some of the bottom end and makes the P90s sound a bit more single coil-like. Sounds great for jazz with the tone rolled slightly town, and perfect for blues and rock. For the ~700 price tag it's a great investment and unique addition to any collection - but most importantly it's a real workhorse that can be played, gigged and taken just about anywhere.

Comments about Yamaha Revstar RS502T Electric Guitar:

This guitar has some serious Mojo. I played one on a whim. It was sitting next to an amp at GC, had seen them in Premier Guitar and thought I would check it out. I was playing it through a little Mustang amp, and was certainly impressed with the feel and how well crafted the instrument was. Note that I am not qualifying this opinion with "Not bad for an Asian guitar." Its a dang good instrument! Period. The set up was nice, it tuned up quickly, the action was about right for my tastes. But what really interested my was the p90's! Killer Tone! Loved the warmth! I couldn't believe that it would sound so good, So I changed amps to make sure and it still sounded great.

Then I went home. ( I have too many guitars)

Looked at them from time to time. Played a few others in the Revstar Line up. But them I plyed one again through a Deluxe Reverb.... sold. spent most of the day Sunday avoiding my chores to sneak into the basement and play! (Mesa Express and Blues Jr's) The guitar just keeps getting better..

Its not as ugly once you get to know her.
