Great Starter Guitar

This guitar is totally worth buying if you're starting out. It's so much better than a squier. It has great tone. Unlike a regular squier, this guitar has a humbucker (2 pickups joined together) and 2 single coil pickups. The problem with a squier is that kids will lose interest, because of the sound. They might not like it. With this guitar, it sounds different, and you get the tone you want. If the kid doesn't know if he wants to play or not, then this is a good guitar to get. There's no point to buying a really expensive guitar that the kid's not gonna touch. This is a cheap guitar that really works. Squier's cost a little bit more.

great starter

I have been playing guitar for 5 years, and this was the first guitar i got. For a beginner guitar, its great. I have since bought a gibson SG and Explorer but i still pick up this guitar from time to time becuase its fun and easy to play. The only problems are the place where you put the jack is loose and it falls out(im guessing its not like that on all of them) it never came with a tremelo (theres a hole like it is suppose to and i can see in the pictures on here it does) so i dont know what the deal is. I think i was too new to guitar to know that music and arts center was ripping me off. But still its a great beginner guitar and will last you a long time considering i just leave this thing on the floor and under my bed and its still trucking.

You will all laugh. Here I go..only two things I changed was the bridge pu.It was punchy though good for metal rock.put a warmer pick up in it that I had. Also changed the tuners to mini govers..played like a dream after total set up.i did this for a great budget under $300. It was compared to the Mexican and Korean fender .Several people and I played it and said I blows the two fenders I described above away. I proved to my self that Yamaha produces great quality at a low budget. Neck is fast body well built and very comfortable to hold sitter standing. This is my new gig guitar. P.s If it gets stolen at a gig .There will be new huge loss finally. A if you set it up right ,it plays like a thousand dollar fender.Me I like it just as much as my 1970 American fender.

  • Awesome guitar.

This Guitar is Great. I love the color, it gives this Guitar a look and personality of its own. Plus I am a COWBOYS(True Blue)and DODGERS(Think Blue)Fan. I have tried 3 different Yamahas(PAC 012,PAC112J, PAC112V).I like the 012. The sounds just sounded and felt great to me.The tone is great, its has a deep clean sound when on the singles. It has a good out put on the humbucker for the heavy stuff. The neck is comfortable and fast. The frets are dressed very nice. The tremolo bar is ok for mild use with a good sound. The tuners are ok, the guitar stays in tune quite well. I still tune it everyday before I play and the tune is never off by that much. I have not had this Guitar for very long but it feels like it will last a long time with proper care. The Guitar is not too heavy or light. It is between Alder and Mahogany as far as weight goes. As far as limitations go, there is some fret buzz on the low E string. The fret board could feel better, it does feel like inexpensive rose wood. The neck radius is 13.75 compared to a Fender which I think is 9.5, so that means the Pacifica fret board is flatter, which has pros and cons. Pro is you can play faster(soloing) on a flatter radius. Con is the 9.5 radius has more curve which may make it easier to play chords. Over all this is a great Guitar for the price and is a very good choice for beginners or more experience players. I would pick this over the Squier just because on the questionable quality control of some or most Squiers. Buy it to learn how to play or just have fun with some thing other than a Squier or Les Paul.

  • It was supposed to be my back up guitar.

I bought the Pacifica 012 as a back up to my MIM Fender Strat, but since then, it has gotten just as much stage and practice time as the Fender. I gave this guitar 4 stars because it has it's faults. If you want to just pick up a guitar and play it, you might give it a lower rating, but I always expect to have to do some modifications to my guitars. Fault number one is that pickup switch, which, when pushed too far one way or the other, will shut off all the pickups. Replace it with a better one as soon as possible. A much milder fault is that the pickups can go micro phonic. I have only noticed this with the distortion all the way up and the strings muffed, I have never noticed it while playing. If you are like me and plan to replace the pickups, anyway, this is not a major fault. Just about everything else about this guitar is as good or better than my MIM Strat, which I paid over twice as much for. The only thing better on the MIM Strat was the pickup selector. The only reason the MIM Strat gets as much playing time as the Pacifica is because I haven't made the modifications to the Pacifica that I have made to my MIM Strat. (http://www.myspace.com/my/photos/photo/2550521/Album) When I get around to making these modifications, the Pacific will probably be my favorite guitar.

I got this guitar for Christmas and i love it. It's a great guitar for beginners-intermediate. I'm still learning scales and stuff and i don't have to tune it every time i play and it sounds great. The tone is really nice and it also looks awesome. I got a Squier Bullet Strat before this and i was not that happy. The sound was not good and the high E string would buzz every time i played it. We returned the Squier and bought the Yamaha and it was so much better. If you are beginning or have a little experience, you have to get this guitar.
