The Yamaha NP11 is a 61-key digital piano that takes Piaggero's signature concept of slim, light, and compact to a new level. It features high-quality voices that sound more realistic than ever before, and a wide variety of simple, user-friendly functions. With Yamaha's renowned digital expertise and quality craftsmanship, the NP11 was designed and built with the beginner in mind. Its inspiring expressive sound, touch-sensite keys, and easy portability (thanks to a mere 11 lb. weight and battery power) make it the perfect practice instrument that you can take with you anywhere you go. Try that with a 9-foot Steinway.

Slim, light, and compact design
Walk in, carrying the NP11 with one hand, and play anywhere thanks to the new slim, light and compact design-it's that easy.

Piano-style keyboard
The NP11 has a 61-key piano-style keyboard with touch sensitivity. The lighter feel of the keys and dynamic expression provided by velocity-sensing keys makes it easier for beginning students to overcome the physical difficulties of learning piano while learning to play expressively. This facilitates a more natural transition to the weighted keys of more advanced keyboards or the action of an acoustic piano.

Advanced Wave Memory (AWM) stereo sampling
AWM is a stereo sampling technique that creates superb wave data, which mirrors the sound and expression of the original instrument. It creates a unique, rich sound by using multiple waveforms. On an actual piano, the attack and harmonics of notes change as they are played at different volumes. AWM emulates this by substituting appropriate waveforms when keys are struck with varying intensity. This enables you to have a more realistic musical experience as you progress.

Built-in stereo speaker system
The NP11 uses a highly efficient stereo amplifier that generates a solid sound that's unexpected in such a slim, light, and compact digital piano. With 2.5 watts per channel, the Piaggero NP 11 is ready to go, whenever you are.

Piano preset songs
These presets provide performance data for piano songs as well as voice demo songs, for your listening pleasure.

Battery power or AC adaptor
The NP11 can be used with an AC adaptor [PA-130 (see #336005) not included] or alkaline batteries (not included) for up to 6-hours and more. Battery-power is the key to the Piaggero's portability.

Auto Power Off mode
This is a new, eco-friendly mode. The NP11 comes with a function that turns off the power automatically if the keyboard has not been used for a set amount of time (30 minutes) in order to avoid using power unnecessarily. This enables longer battery life.

Note: This keyboard does not ship with batteries or a power supply. We enthusiastically recommend the Yamaha SK-B2 Survival Kit, which contains the appropriate power supply for your keyboard, as well as a set of headphones, a footswitch, an extended warranty, rebate coupons and helpful software. #H65815

Only good for the most basic purposes, not a real keyboard

    By Rick Shansky

    from Holliston MA

Comments about Yamaha NP11 61-Key Piaggero Digital Piano:

I bought this unit and returned it the next day. My goal was to buy a small low-cost keyboard that I could carry easily to jams without breaking the bank. After trying it out in my local GC I thought I found what I needed, but it didn't take long to realize a made a mistake. It is advertised as "touch sensitive" which it is, but it is not truly velocity sensitive and the terrible feel of the keys, lacking weighted action, limits the value of the touch sensitivity. If you are currently playing on a weighted or semi-weighted keyboard with accurate key size and feel, you will HATE this board. The piano sound is pretty good, and the electric piano setting is interesting (but not an accurate Fender Rhodes or Wurlitzer type sound. 61 keys is really not enough once you start playing a lot of songs you know. Maybe I'm spoiled from almost always using 88-key units. If you are just looking for something low cost for a beginner, this might be a good choice. It has the built in amp and speakers which provide an okay sound. The unit is also very compact and lightweight so it is very flexible if you have limited space. However, I would not recommend this unit if you are even a quasi-serious musician.

    What A Great Keyboard!!!

Comments about Yamaha NP11 61-Key Piaggero Digital Piano:

Hey, if you're looking for a great portable digital piano, you have found it with this one. I've already written over 10 new songs and I've only had it 2 weeks. I tried all of the new Casio keyboards first because they really looked professional but they all sounded the same. The pianos were so weak, but that It looks, feels, and sounds professional right out of the box, and only weighs about 11 pounds. As soon as I played it I had to have it. It's the riches sounding piano for the lowest price. Check it won't be disappointed!!!

Great keyboard for hobbyists, good spare keyboard for pro's.

    By Dale McFarland

Comments about Yamaha NP11 61-Key Piaggero Digital Piano:

The NP11 is clearly described as "entry level" for "beginning students" and for that I whole-heartedly give 5 stars. But I have used it on jobs where I'm cramped for space, or had to drag everything up stairs, or just worried about taking more expensive gear. The NP11 is a no-frills, affordable 2nd keyboard. (Note: sustain pedal and 12V transformer must be purchased separately.) It cost less than the last time I had my Motif serviced and weighs less than my bench. Although I should mention I had to exchange the first one because of a defective key. To my ear Grand Piano 1, E.Piano 2 and Vibraphone sound good; Grand Piano 2, E.Piano 1 and Strings less good. For my work, the two church organs and two harpsichords are useless. The acoustic pianos can sound buzzy in the mid- and high-range, but I find that's often the case with Yamaha. And the sustain should definitely last longer. The action feels good, with somewhat more resistance than other non-weighted keyboards I've used. The 20-in. wide plastic music stand is a bit wobbly under a heavy book, but it's plenty to prop up sheet music or an iPad. It has some handy programming features (fx, touch settings, layers, etc.) which you'll need to memorize since there's no display. At home, the built-in speakers are extremely convenient if I just wanna noodle. On gigs, tinkering with the EQ through a system produces a pretty fair sound. The speakers mute when you plug it in. If I need more/better patches, I midi through a module and let the speakers serve as monitors. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my NP11. No, it's not a weighted 88, nor does it claim to be. So don't expect a 5-star professional keyboard. But during my 30+ year career, there were many times I would have preferred this over some truly awful house pianos.

    Great for what it does.

Comments about Yamaha NP11 61-Key Piaggero Digital Piano:

I've been playing the piano since 1973, and I wish this type of keyboard existed 20 years ago. Sometimes all we need is a quality piano sound without all the other useless sounds that come with a typical electronic keyboard. I mean seriously, who needs a sitar sound unless you're playing in India somewhere? To me, the piano sound on this instrument is good enough to use on a gig. It also doesn't look like a toy, so you won't be embarrassed and get laughed at when you take it out in front of people. In essence, this is a mini digital piano. It has all the same sounds, and same quality of sounds as an 88 key digital piano. Sounds can also be combined. The organ sounds are useless, but who cares. I use this as a portable practice piano anyway. Of course, for this price, you're not going to get the hammer action feel of a real piano, but the waterfall keys make playing this just a little more piano-like than playing a regular low end electronic keyboard. It's very light and small, thus making it very easy to carry. To my pleasant surprise, it runs on 6AA batteries as opposed to 6 heavy Ds. You'd be surprised at how much weight D batteries can add to a keyboard. I also like that it's touch sensitive. The only thing I don't like about it is that the speakers are on the sides, thus making it a little longer than your standard electronic keyboard. It still fits inside a soft case, but will stretch the sides out a little bit. I understand some models only have a 1/8th inch output, but thankfully the one I bought (July 2014) has a 1/4 inch output so I can hook it up to an amp if I want to, or to ear buds with an adapter. For the price, this is a good little instrument. I use it as my second portable keyboard, and take it with me in the car so I can have a keyboard with me wherever I go. You wouldn't want to risk carry around a $1,000 keyboard in your trunk for obvious reasons, but if you lose something like this, it's no biggie.

Comments about Yamaha NP11 61-Key Piaggero Digital Piano:

I've gotten back into recording music with my iPad and have a Griffin StudioConnect which require MIDI hookups but it keeps the iPad CHARGED and it was reduced to only $16.00 but it does the hookups for the recordings I want to do and is perfect to use with this keyboard. I also have an older Kawai Digital Piano I use the Griffin with. We got this Yamaha Keyboard for me to use in our motor home. It sounds really nice and the touch on the keys is among the best I've tried on a keyboard in this price range. As I use the iPad for recording, I don't need to record into the device the keyboard. I love it.
