Overview

Playing guitar in a great sounding room is the most inspiring, engaging playing experience imaginable – far more enjoyable than in a dry-sounding room like a lounge, office or den. Yamaha’s LL-TA TransAcoustic Guitar recreates the incredible experience of playing in a rich, live room without needing any external amplification or effects – just the guitar itself. Whether you’re practicing, writing, recording or just playing for fun, the TransAcoustic Guitar will make you play better, longer and with more creativity. Once you’ve experienced it, you may never want to play another acoustic guitar again.

Actuator
An actuator installed on the inner surface of the guitar back vibrates in response to the vibrations of the strings. The vibrations of the actuator are then conveyed to the body of the guitar, and to the air in and around the guitar body, generating authentic reverb and chorus sounds from inside the body.

Simple Control
Three simple knobs let you adjust the degree of effect applied and the lineout volume level. Additionally, keeping the controls small minimizes the area of the holes in the body material, reducing acoustic sound loss. (A) Chorus Control (B) Reverb Control (Room/Hall) (C) TA Switch/Line Out Volume Control
* Pressing the TA Switch for more than 0.3 seconds activates the TA function
* When a cable is connected to the line-out jack, the lineout volume can be adjusted by rotating the (C) knob
* The reverb type switches from Room to Hall around the 12:00 position

New Scalloped Bracing
The body is an all-solid guitar based on the L-Series. A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L Series’ characteristic bright tone while enhancing the low end. Treating the tops with Yamaha's exclusive A.R.E. process gives the instrument a rich, vintage quality tone, making it sound as though you'd been playing it for years, from the very first moment you pick it up. The fact that this guitar has been designed with an insistence on sound quality is what allows it to produce effected sounds that feels pure and natural.

High Comfortable Playability
Straighter neck taper and hand-rolled fingerboard edges result in an instrument that can be played for hours without any stress. The 5-ply neck design featured in all TransAcoustic Guitars is constructed of rosewood and mahogany plies with a double-action adjustable rod, creating a strong, stable neck that resists warping.

Newly Designed Battery Box
Battery box integrated into the end-pin jack. This requires fewer holes in the body, thus reducing acoustic sound loss. Connect the cable from the jack to a PA or amp to use as an acoustic electric guitar.

Comments about Yamaha LL-TA Transacoustic Jumbo Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I really love the Yamaha LL series, and I really, really love the LL Transacoustic.

First of all, the Yamaha L series are just wonderful guitars and they are fantastic specs for the price. You'd be hard pressed to find Englemann/Rosewood with body, neck, headstock binding, pearl inlays, etc. around the price anywhere else, even before you consider the A.R.E. treatment. Add the Transacoustic tech to the guitar, and it's mind-blowing for the price.

If you haven't played the L series, I would say the LL is characterized by a focused bass and midrange but a distinctive brightness, there's some really good 'zing' there that makes the guitar very responsive to how you play, almost like a tube amp or a piano in touch-sensitivity. These come with 80/20 strings, so you might be able to add some beef with phosphor bronze, if that's your preference. To me though, this is the Yamaha acoustic tone and it's distinct from anything else out there.

I know most people will want to know about the Transacoustic functions, but I would say - you need to hear it for yourself. You get both a room and a hall reverb, and chorus built right into the guitar. I was a little skeptical but the effects really do sound great. Being able to just pick up a guitar and add a touch of reverb and a touch of chorus without plugging into anything is cool, but the bottom line is that the effects sound awesome and that's what makes this guitar an amazing buy. It really does make you want to play more.

It comes with what is described as a "hard bag", this is a gig bag but a pretty solid one. I bought a hard case for mine (You want the Yamaha DC-AG Deluxe Hardshell Acoustic Guitar Case if you do) but I think you'd be fine with the bag as long as you aren't really abusing it.

Yamaha makes some of the best guitars you'll find at any price point, and this is no exception.

Comments about Yamaha LL-TA Transacoustic Jumbo Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

While owning many guitars including a Martin D28 and a Taylor 614CE, the LLTA is my daily go/to guitar. I love it and was warned upon purchase that the novelty of the electric might where off but no way! It a great instrument over all, even not using the transacoustic system. Thanks Yamaha

Comments about Yamaha LL-TA Transacoustic Jumbo Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been playing guitar for 15 years. Most of this time I have played either off brands or Yamaha I have little experience with Taylor, gibsons and other name brands. So I am going to compare with what I have played before.

My first guitar was a Yamaha DW-9 it has a solid spruce top and solid rosewood back, it does not have solid sides. It is a good guitar, but the new LL-TA is far better.

          1. The feel and action on the LL-TA is far better. I never knew how comfortable it could be to play a guitar. I used to hate barre chords and would try to avoid playing full barre chords, but now they are actually quite simple.
          2. The sound quality is much better. Even without using the actuator there is a fullness and a little brightness to the sound. The DW-9 was more flat, not robust and full.
          3. When turning on the reverb and chorus it really does make me play more and practice more. It is a lot of fun to just pick up and enjoy. The chorus is great for a variety of songs, though I would not suggest using it on all styles, for some music it really brings out the voice of the song. These controls are also fun to play around with and see how you can accent the songs purpose with your playing. It adds a whole new level of feeling that you cannot add easily just by playing.
          4. I'm a music leader at church and play with friends and small bands from time to time. I have had numerous comments about this guitar in the past month since I bought it. One guy came up to me when I was practicing with the band... "What is that?" he was amazed at the reverb that was coming from the guitar, he'd never heard anything like it. When I added the chorus he was blown away.

In summary. This is a great guitar without the extra Chorus/Reverb function. The feel, power, and voice of the guitar all get a huge lift from this added function. It has changed the way I play and added a whole new level of enjoyment to guitar playing. I have only had it a month but I don't think this will get old!!!

Comments about Yamaha LL-TA Transacoustic Jumbo Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Yamaha LL-TA is a great guitar with all solid woods, expertly built and very attractive both physically and musically. Very high build quality. It has a jumbo concert body, giving it a pretty full bass, less than a dreadnaught, but not by much. The sound is clear and a little lively. The out-of-the-box action on mine is a bit high at the nut for my taste, so I will sand the nut bottom down a bit when I change strings. The guitar comes with a solid foam bag, lighter and less "marking" on walls than a hard case.

Now to the star of the guitar, the built in pre-amp and transducer. Easy to use, these built-in effects give the guitar a substantial sound advantage, and make playing a lot of fun. I will use these effects while playing in a guitar group, so my solo's will rise above the other guitars with reverb and/or chorus and be heard. I'll also use them in recording, negating the need for an amp, as I can add the reverb and chorus to instrumentals I record. Very flexible, and I was surprised at the volume of the effects; much more pronounced that I ever thought they'd be, and they really project well.

Overall, an excellent Yamaha guitar in it's own right, with all solid woods and excellent build quality, made all the more wonderful with the transducer's reverb and chorus effects.
