Yamaha APX600 Acoustic-Electric Guitar Black

Description
Saddle up because Yamaha's APX600 thinline cutaway acoustic-electric guitar is breaking ground in both comfortability and playability. It’s no surprise that Yamaha is still a leading innovator in amazing sounding guitars. Their earliest model dates to ’66 with the creation of the FG180 Folk model, their first in-house engineered guitar. The APX600 followed suit to its predecessor, the best-selling APX500, but added a few cosmetic refinements. Now, it’s easier than ever to access the full fretboard due to its thinline cutaway design. The distinctive oval-shaped soundhole was also revamped to produce more prominent low tones and reactive middle-range harmonic blasts. It’s beautifully complimented with a simple but classic abalone rosette.
Manufactured for Greatness
Yamaha’s APX600 is manufactured with locally sourced tonewoods. It features a tonal spruce top, nato body, glossy finish and specifically curated tropical wood for its neck. Like guitars in the widely popular A Series, the rosewood fretboard is enhanced by Yamaha’s go-to SRT transducer sensor, a unique undersaddle piezo pickup. It preserves your most authentic guitar sound with the truly mixable sound and feedback rejection capabilities that guitarists love.
Stylish and Sleek Build
The Yamaha APX600 thinline cutaway acoustic-electric combines incredible comfort, easy, top-fret access and an incredible sound ready for all stages in your life. It features a distinct oval soundhole for thicker lower-mid response and a more attention-getting low end, with a sweet abalone rosette to perfectly complement it. It is constructed from a combination of spruce top and nato body with a gloss finish and a locally sourced tropical tonewood for the neck as well as a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. This upgraded APX600 features a unique undersaddle piezo pickup, the Yamaha proprietary SRT transducer. The same as the one featured in their highly acclaimed A Series range, it captures your guitar's natural tone with the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound guitarists crave.
Although its style has evolved, the essence of the APX remains the same. Today, it boasts a more natural look, a deeper body for better bass response and greater volume, and a non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

My favorite budget guitar
I've had a few acoustic guitars (Taylor, Alvarez, Godin) and this Yamaha AXP600 is my favorite. Guitar Center only had the display model (these sell pretty fast) so I had the store order a new one for me. It was delivered 2 days later at my house - that was fast! Out of the box, it was flawless. No defects of any kind. Setup was spot on. String height was 2mm low E and 1.75mm high E. That's very playable for me but I like my action a little lower so I sanded down the saddle to get around 1.75mm low E and 1.50mm high E. No buzzing whatsoever and now even more playable than ever. The thin body design is also a great feature and makes the guitar even easier and more enjoyable to play. It feels comfortable as most all of my playing is in the sitting position. Very lightweight too at about 4.5 lbs. Because of the thin design it doesn't have a lot of punch to it when played without an amp but when I plug it into my little Acoustic A20 amp, it is amazing how good it sounds. I also swapped out the 12-53 strings (too squeaky and rough feeling for me) for Elixir 11-52 Polyweb coated strings - much easier on my sensitive finger tips. You just can't beat this guitar especially in this price range of $300. There's a reason why it has so many good reviews, here and elsewhere. And I highly recommend it also. Kudos to Yamaha and to Guitar Center.

Great guitar for the price, received with broken electronics
I received this with broken electronics, and Yamaha refuses to honor the warranty. Guitar Center says the repair is free, but Yamaha refuses to send parts for repair without my paying for them. Thus, I have to give this a terrible review to let folks know if anything goes wrong, you're on your own. As a result of this, I'll never buy another Yamaha instrument, and wouldn't recommend anyone else do so either. This is sad, because otherwise, overall, this is a great guitar for the price, a good starter guitar that's smaller-bodied, and thus easier for me as a beginner and someone who is smaller in stature and with medium size hands to hold and play, especially when compared to some other cheaper entry level guitars. The sound is definitely brighter with less bass, but it's made up for with playability. Because it's a low price, I don't mind taking to the beach, camping, and outdoors in general.

Bought this and a cheaper Fender Acoustic for first ones to learn with my daughter. After playing each i found this to be a warm cool tone stays in tune alot and the preamp a little better. Fended had a brighter tone and pickup not as loud . Really like this i can only imagine what the expensive ones are like. This seems expensive but not sounding. Now only if i can trick my daughter into keeping the fender lol Not.
Great sound and great performance for the price.

Great for around the house. The sound is nice and soft unplugged. Paired with a small amp, there is plenty of sound casually playing or on stage. I bought this for travel in our RV and it is portable without having to sacrifice sound quality. If you are interested in something that sounds good and is a bit smaller, this is the one.
I needed a fun guitar that good enough to have fun with..

Really like this guitar. Easy to play for a beginner like me, but sounds good enough for a more experienced player. I would buy this guitar again, and would definitely buy it from Guitar Center.
