Overview

With scorching riffs and remarkable stage presence, Zakk Wylde has earned his reputation as heavy metal's premier lead guitarist. It's perhaps no surprise that he's now going from making great music to making great guitars at the head of his own company. The Wylde Audio Warhammer electric guitar is part of the first wave of models to come from this new company.

With nordic spirit this awesome model is ready to seize the stage. The Warhammer offers the player one of Zakk's most aggressive designs featuring a solid mahogany body with a set 3-piece maple neck. The ebony fretboard has a 24.6 in. scale and 14 in. radius with 22 jumbo frets, just the way Zakk likes it.

From Ozzy Osbourne, Pride and Glory, and now Black Label Society, Zakk has always used EMG active pickups and you'll find a pair onboard in the time-tested combination of EMG 85/81 that has helped define Zakk's sound. Black satin hardware includes Grover tuners and locking tune-o-matic bridge.

Case sold separately.

Details about the EMGs onboard
Although the EMG-85 pickup has more measurable output than the 81, its frequency response and string interface are different. The 85 uses two Alnico magnet-loaded coils with a wide aperture to maintain a beefy low end and a fatter top end. Because of a more natural tone, it works great as a rhythm and blues pickup because it has loads of output but isn't muddy. It's a perfect choice as a rhythm pickup in combination with an 81 in the bridge.

The midrange has great definition and doesn't get foggy or muddy in the rhythm position. The EMG-85 works best if you like the natural distortion that comes from overdriving the front end of your amp. Under any condition, the humbucker responds accurately to your technique.

The EMG-81 pickup is a high-output pickup designed especially for the lead guitarist. The 81 is at its best for high volume overdrive and amps with a master volume. Whether you're playing power rock 'n' roll, or overdriving your amp, there's a razor sharp attack, and incredible sustain for brilliant soloing. If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one.

Distortion during lead passages is consistent, sustain is long and the breakup fades smoothly. The ceramic magnet in combination with wide aperture steel poles lend a quick attack but the tone stays nice and fat at the same time. Perfect if you're the only guitarist in the band, and need to switch from rhythm to lead and still keep the band moving. Another great thing about the EMG-81 humbucker is it's quiet. If you're playing at really high gain the last thing you need is noise.

Comments about Wylde Audio Warhammer Electric Guitar:

Firstly, I have played a few of these since they came out and they simply rock for the money. Its great that they solely focused on the essentials of a guitar and didn't bother making you pay for a case, too.

However, I had to review this because of the guy who claims he's been playing for 30+ years as a guitarist and then goes on to describe his amp. If you ever brag about playing through a Line 6, after having 30+ years to figure out your tone and experience, chances are your opinion is invalid. Just had to say that.

Don't listen to reviewers, go find the fiddle and pick the dang thing up yourself. Zakk and Schecter did a phenomenal job with this line and you should go rock out on one of these.

Comments about Wylde Audio Warhammer Electric Guitar:

Best looking, best sounding, best playing guitar I have ever owned as a 30+ year guitarist. Wylde Audio has hit a major home run with these bad boys!! They sound as mean as they look, just an amazing guitar. I would recommend it to anybody that id thinking about getting one. I use a Line 6 Spider IV 150 watt combo amp and man does this baby ever scream!!! Just give them your money and get one!!! You will not regret it!

Comments about Wylde Audio Warhammer Electric Guitar:

Very well made guitar! I've seen people complain about the quality of these guitars, so from a player of 33 years this instrument is spot on. This is the second non-U.S.A. made electric I have owned the first a Charvel 650XL. It is surprisingly light for it's size, about 7.5lb. I disassembled the guitar to set it up and it is solid not multi layered, may be sectional, but the guitar is huge so it might have to be. The neck is beefy not huge. My first Les Paul was a 76' custom and this is basically the Norlin era neck so I love it and I'm used to it. Come to think about it, even my old Super Strats have chunky necks. First time with TonePro bridge like it enough that I've been trading out my player LP's bridges for these they are much better if you play live. I've played EMG's for 25 years so I know how to use them. Stays in tune very well, but has a big, strong neck and if ya didn't know, that helps. Now for the SOUND! I played a Barbarian, Grail and Odin before I picked one of these up. From the first note this guitar was METAL. It cleans up really nice, even with the EMG's, but there is NONE MORE METAL!!!!!! than the WARHAMMER!!!! I play through el34 and el84 amps so I give up some bottom to get the hotter tubes and I like the whine. However, this guitar sounds huge and more chunky than my solid LP's. I've had to back off the lows on the system when we play live which I've never done with my other guitars. I took the finish off the back of the neck kinda sticky. One last thing. I ordered this guitar from Guitar Center and it was a mess when it got to me. Truss rod was way out, bridge was loose, battery dead and so on. I know Schecter sets their guitars up so this was probably a display model, which is fine, but someone without my experience working on guitars might have trouble with it.

Comments about Wylde Audio Warhammer Electric Guitar:

a lot of negative reviews on youtube about zakk wylde audio guitars,I think its because of the looks and shape. But the reason I bought it is because of the neck, has a big c shaped neck, I hate guitars with these paper thin necks hate em.When i got this guitar it was almost perfectly set up,just had to tune it and give the neck just a little relief(comes with the truss rod tool) and lower the action just a touch. No fret buzz anywhere no fretting out on bends, great sustain and the neck is awesome. The only thing I dont like are the Emg pickups not into heavy metal, listen to the solo,s for example of november rain, comfortable numb (pink floyd) firehouse(Ace Frehely) thats what i like to play so probably going to put Dimarzo super distortion pickups in.Other than that the guitar ( the neck, fretboard and frets) feels great to play .

Comments about Wylde Audio Warhammer Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar. The neck is larger than any I've ever used and feels great. The paint job and body shape is so unique so you'll be guaranteed to stand out from the crowd. Only problem is where the pickup selector is located but not a huge deal.
