Codex Wavetable Synth
Waves Codex is a cutting-edge polyphonic synthesizer based on an advanced granular wavetable engine and powered by Waves’ Virtual Voltage technology. Designed to create sounds that range from warm acoustic and analog emulations to completely new, never-before-heard intricate and evolving textures, Codex’s sound design capabilities put infinite possibilities at your fingertips.
Thanks to its Organic ReSynthesis engine, Sibilance allows precise identification of unwanted sibilant sounds such as ‘s’ and ‘sh’, resulting in smooth, glitch-free, effective de-essing which maintains the timbre, duration, and natural resonance of the original vocal sound. Unlike most de-essers which act like narrow-band compressors, Sibilance uses Organic ReSynthesis spectral filters to identify undesirable bursts of sibilant energy, then completely separates the nuances of sibilance from the vocal signal, leaving the rest of the signal untouched.
The first attack, initial hit or onset of a sound is known as its ‘transient.’ By controlling the exact level, shape and duration of these sounds, you can give your tracks the perfect tightness and dynamics they need, in ways that a compressor can’t always do. With Smack Attack, you can unleash or tame kicks, snares, claps, drum samples, or any other drum or percussion instrument – but also guitar and bass plucks, quick piano arpeggios, synth stabs, or even your entire mix.
Designed for achieving an instant ducking effect, OneKnob Pumper simulates sidechain compression, saving you the need to route the kick track to the sidechain input of a compressor. This extremely handy and easy-to-use plugin is ideal for making either your entire mix or individual tracks pump with the beat.
Electric Grand 80 Piano
Featured on hits by Journey, U2, The Police, George Duke, Phil Collins, Toto, Hall & Oates, Billy Joel and countless others, the original 80-model electric grand continues to be a favorite among modern rock bands like Keane and electronic musicians such as Ulrich Schnauss. “I had one of the original Yamaha CP-80 electric grand pianos for years,” says top studio musician Charlie Judge, “and it’s great to have that sound once again.” Electric grands are known for their reverberated chords and polished, shiny leads. Since the original piano uses fewer strings per key, it creates a tone that can be more easily mixed into your music compared to a traditional acoustic piano.
Electric 88 Piano
Over time, vintage pianos tend to sound different from key to key. They detune, change in tone and become non-linear. The fascinating thing is that these audible imperfections create a beautiful and unique instrument, one that can move you emotionally when you hear it. This is something we kept in mind when creating the Electric 88. We decided to sample a unique “road-worn” piano, carefully capturing the non-linearity of the individual keys to preserve its charming character. When we sampled the piano, we had each key played multiple times by hand to give it a real human feel. The result is a phenomenal electric piano full of personality and a sound that will instantly be reminiscent of classic ‘70s pianos: full of funk and soul.
Electric 200 Piano
Electric 200 captures the bite, bark and punchy reed tone of the electric piano model used on classic recordings by Ray Charles, Pink Floyd, Steely Dan and many more. Sampled from two individual instruments, each with its own distinct tone, Electric 200 gives you the flexibility to create classic and adventurous sounds in rock, jazz, R&B and electronic music – “a quantum leap forward in feature, tone, responsiveness, realism and grit from other sampled Wurlitzers,” according to top studio musician Charlie Judge.
Waves Bass Slapper lets you recreate on your keyboard the realistic nuances of a dexterous bass player, with complete control over every note and articulation, including thumbing, popping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, open strings, legato sounds and dead notes. Bass Slapper includes the world’s most extensive sample library of special bass guitar sounds, with slides, left- and right-hand mutes and harmonic strums. The instrument’s intuitive position and articulation controls let you determine precisely where to play on the fretboard, when to switch strings, which strings to thumb or pop, and more.
