Washburn

Description

Washburn's WCG55CE is a Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar with a Venetian cutaway for superior upper fret access. A highlight of the Comfort Series is the beveled strip of mahogany at the lower bout which becomes part of the mahogany top binding. The guitar features a koa top and koa back and sides, mahogany and maple bound body and headstock. The satin-finished mahogany neck has an ebony fingerboard devoid of inlays and in tandem with the mahogany bound ebony bridge adds an aura of understated elegance. A maple, mahogany and maple strip splits the book-matched koa back as well. The koa-capped headstock features a pearl-inlaid Washburn logo and stylized W, as well as black Grover tuners with ebonite buttons. The gorgeous rosette is made of alternating maple and mahogany.

The WCG55CE is a fantastic-sounding acoustic guitar in its own right, but the addition of premium Fishman electronics makes for an outstanding stage performance guitar. The Fishman 501T Presys+ is an integrated tuner/preamp system for versatile amplified tonal shaping.

This is my 5th guitar and it is so comfortable to play and has a very warm mellow sound. It's just so fun to play. I went in the store to buy a Martin Road series guitar and played both for over 2 hrs., both were about the same price and it came down to comfort. It is also the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen. Well worth the price.

The koa wood on this guitar is just gorgeous, even better looking than the on-line catalog pictures. The binding and sound-hole rosette inlays are superb. I realize that the wood, including the top, is not solid koa; so I don't expect it to sound like a guitar with a solid wood top. But it sounds pretty fine, and looks great while doing so. I would have no hesitation using it plugged-in for a small gig, the visual "wow-factor" would more than compensate for any slight short-comings in the sound. The pre-amp electronics are first-rate, and the built-in tuner is a nice bonus.
