First off let me start by saying this is a beautiful guitar. I recently decided I wanted to learn to play the guitar. Having 2 early 70's vintage Yairi Alvarez guitars at home that were my fathers I don't play them at all. I bought this guitar to learn. I don't have th "ear" for music or tones, but after plinking around with this model, I have noticed that the "G" string sounds flat. By this I mean the string hits the right frequency to be in tune, but it has no sustain and doesn't "ring out" like the others and this worsens as you make your way down the neck to the higher notes. I was told by a guitar tech that it is unrepairable and that is the way this particular guitar is going to play. I have changed strings, brands of strings, composite of strings as well as size to no avail. My advice is to pick the guitar up and really listen to the way the strings sustain individually up and down the fretboard before buying.

Comments about Washburn WA90CE Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

This inexpensive guitar looks and sounds great. It has many features usually found on more pricy instruments, like a bound neck, built-in tuner, etc. The sound is bright and clear as a bell, I just wish someone at Washburn knew that people like to play standing up. It needs another strap button!

Comments about Washburn WA90CE Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I ordered the guitar on line from Guitar Center.com and had it delivered at my local GC store instead of my home. This being my very first guitar, I wanted to have it opened at the store and checked out by one of the professionals there. After it was opened we plugged it in to an amp. I was floored by the rich sound it produced when I struck my first chord. The D'Addorio strings ring out nicely on it. My brother in law who is an experienced player was very impressed with how it sounded and felt when he played it. I don't have a lot of money to spend on a guitar. But for all it features, along with great looks and reliable Washburn quality, I'm happy with this investment.

Comments about Washburn WA90CE Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

Action was very high, at the 12th fret. Any attempt to lower it resulted in horrible string buzz. The strings set so low in the nut it couldn't be adjusted at all. I replaced the nut with a bone nut. Then had to replace the saddle also. After filing several times the action is still high but any lower results in major buzz. I will keep working on that part of it. The sound is horrible and I am working on that also. The preamp is a joke. Only a tuner and volume control. Sounds even worst thru an amp. Horrible but louder. A couple bad spots in the finish around the sound hole. It looks nice other than that, but otherwise it is pretty much a joke until you work on it forever. Would not recommend to anyone to just buy and play. The strings that came on it was as joke at best. Hard as a rock and the scratching sound was terrible. It is very high pitched in tone. I tuned it down a full step to make it sound something like a guitar. It is really an embarrassment at this point. Will give it a couple more days but sure I am going to return it. It is pretty much just junk really.

Comments about Washburn WA90CE Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I was shopping for a good, low-priced guitar that had a pre-amp. The Washburn WA90CE: 1) has a full sound; 2) played easily; 3) had every chord sound in-tune; 4) did not require re-tuning when using a capo; 5) had a good, quality feel; 6) sounded really well when amplified; 7) had a nice finish

The cons were: 1) there is only one strap attachment; 2)the two wires for the pre-amp are not tucked away and can be seen through the sound hole.

Overall, I was, and am, really impressed with the WA90CE. So, I bought one!

I know my son will be as pleased as I am with it. Try it!

It's a good guitar I enjoy it. There are some spots where the the black is starting to fade. The white ring around mine has a sloppy spot on it. It took a while for the strings to hold a tune. But from what I hear that's normal. I'm just starting out playing guitar it's a good guitar for the money. I recommend it. Washburn also has a dreadnought case that fits it perfectly.

Comments about Washburn WA90CE Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a few months ago, and I guess it says that they no longer carry this guitar.
I needed a better acoustic/electric and went into the store. I tried about six different guitars
that day, but I kept coming back to this one. I liked everything about it. I would say it is kind
of lightweight, and I am not used to that, but it plays wonderfully and is a great guitar to learn
on for those of you on a budget.. I have played for 50 years, and I thought it played wonderfully,
and the tone is bright and very nice for my needs. The pickup in it sounds very good for
playing over a PA and for recording. I am kind of a rebel, and usually play un-popular, inexpesive
guitars. I think it's how you play them that counts, not how much money you paid for it! But
overall, I liked it, so I bought it, and I am still very happy when I pick it up and play it! I love it.

Got this as a gift and overall am extremely happy with it. Has a good sound both amplified and acoustic. Fun to play and I'm not finding myself constantly trying to keep it tuned. That said, the preamp could be a little better. It has no EQ, just a turner and volume. The finish was a little rough around the sound hole. The most annoying thing I've found is a slight fret buzz on the 6th string at the 8th fret. Have to work on that. This guitar plays and sounds as good as guitars 3 or 4 times the cost. Definitely couldn't go wrong with this one

Comments about Washburn WA90CE Dreadnought Acoustic Electric Guitar:

The WA90CE is a decent guitar. I bought one to leave at the inlaw's for visits. It does look nice for what it is, nice and shiny, the fit and finish is pretty good. The tuner is nice to have, but seems a bit cheap. I haven't plugged the guitar into an amp, so I can't comment on the pickup. I had to sand the saddle a bit and adjust the truss rod (to be expected with any guitar), put on new strings, and it plays well for a $100 guitar. Soundwise, the particular guitar that I have isn't anything to write home about. It doesn't have much bass and the sound is generally thin. I have a number of guitars and hand picked most of them and honestly, if I had been able to return this guitar to GC (had it shipped so my wife could play while there, and I didn't see it for several months - past return date) I would have. For occasional use, it'll do, but if I were just starting out, or playing it a lot, I'd probably look elsewhere. That said, I'm talking about a particular guitar, and they all differ. I'm sure there are examples of the WA90CE that sound quite nice -but the one I have, not so much. Take it for what you will... Sound is subjective anyway, if you play one and it sounds good to you, by all means! Otherwise, it seems to be well built -even the interior gluing looked nice and clean.

For what it's worth, I have two other Washburns, a WP27 Parlor, and a N1 electric (cheap, but I love mine!). So, I am a Washburn fan. Several of my guitars are considerably more expensive than the WA90CE, so it has some rather stiff competition. The guitar at my parents place is a Jasmine S34C, which isn't as pretty as the WA90CE, and has no pickup or tuner, but is also a cutaway and sounds great! The price is similar, and I'd consider replacing the WA90 with one if it was lost or stolen.
