Awesome

Comments about Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a very solid amp. Very loud and very clear. I have been playing for 15 years and this is the best bang for my buck i have had in a long time. I am a fan of marshall and mesa boogie. If you cannot afford a mesa, go with Vox. I rarely see people play them on stage and after i spent about a week jamming on this thing i am very confused on why. As always though, go to guitar center and play it before you buy though. Mess around with all of the settings and get a good feel for the amp. The AC30 is nice too but for my house this was great. You can also use it as a head for a cab. I tried this and it works pretty good, but if that is what you are looking for save your money for the real head and cab. The Vox 4x12 is really nice too!

Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp

By B. Higgins

from Grand Rapids, MI

Comments about Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had a VOX Pathfinder for years and love what it can do for practice environments and have even driven a 2x12 cabinet with it but I wanted a VOX combo amp. Sure I would like to own a VOX AC 30 but my budget (and wife) don't allow for it so I searched for a lower price VOX with good reviews. The Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp from Guitar Center looked like the candidate. I wanted the classic VOX look cabinet and simple controls. I was not interested in amp modeling, just 2 channels and the simple knob controlled EQ which this amp has. I have gigged with it in my 6 piece band and it has plenty of volume to cut through and everything I want. There is actually a tube pre-amp section in there somewhere and the overdrive channel has 2 settings to choose from. One is a classic with slight edge that responds well when you play it hard. The other is a higher gain modern distortion which some players will value as it is not a common classic VOX tone. The clean channel has that great VOX chime and is just I wanted for my Tele. The cabinet is built sturdy as my Pathfinder and the hardware is all VOX. Some may want an effects loop but I actually was glad that there was not one as I don't need the extra cables on stage. Going direct to the amp from my pedal board is very quiet and I was happy to find that the 2 button footswitch I already owned worked with this amp with no modification. In summary, get one of these before they find out how good they are and raise the price!

The best amp for the money out there!

By Paul

from Gilbert, AZ

Comments about Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I've been a Fender cat my whole life, but at a recent recording session, I had the chance to use a traditional Vox AC15, and fell in love with it. I wasn't sure that I wanted to take the plunge financially into an all tube AC15, so I went to a music store and tried the AC15VR. I was totally floored by this amp! If I heard this amp without seeing it, I'd swear it was an all tube combo. It's definitely got that killer "Vox sound," but at a price that is reasonable enough to take a chance on. This amp has now become my main gigging amp! Now I definitely didn't see that coming! I exclusively use the clean channel on this amp, but I've tried the overdrive channels, and I think they sounded really good, I just don't play any styles that require a "dirty" sound. I was also surprised at how loud this amp is! I've had no problem holding my own at live gigs with this amp! Bottom line, this is sooo much amp for the money it's ridiculous!

Simply Excellent

By TONY BENINATE

from Greenville, SC

Comments about Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I feel like people try to keep this amplifier on the down-low; their best-kept secret. But then I can't blame them. The overall tone is simply amazing. A nice, warm, three-dimensional tube sound. Personally, I cannot tell the difference in tone between this and the revered AC15, though I'm sure those with keener ears than me could. The clean channel has a nice range from clean to a nice crunch. And you can get nice overdrives with OD1 and OD2. Very simple to use. 15 watts may not sound like much, but I use this in the studio and have never brought the master over 6 o'clock. Plenty power. My only two gripes are that the reverb is pretty weak and there is a pop whenever you turn the amp on; a standby mode would have been nice. I'm no fan of hybrid cars, but this little hybrid amp gets a gold star.

Comments about Vox AC15VR Valve Reactor 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I did a lot of research before picking this up. There wasn't a single one in any GC store throughout the nation, and I had to order it banking on it being as good as I'd hoped. It is.

I got it home, plugged it in, and am very happy with the sound. Clean is warm and chimey, the OD is traditional chunk or heavier gain. No frills, straight and to the point. 20 lbs lighter than the VT50 I came from, and I consider it an upgrade. Get's LOUD (that was my concern), louder than my VT50 and punchier too.

I picked up my ac15vr used and I'm absolutely in love with it! The only issue is the digital reverb is awful and pretty much non exsistent.
