The Vintage Bomber was designed in collaboration with Otis Brown III, drummer for jazz great Joe Lovano. The Vintage Bomber was conceived and designed to replicate the soft but boomy bass drum tones of the great jazz era. The Vintage Bomber's cork center is wrapped with a soft and puffy synthetic covering and is reminiscent in look, feel, and sound of the original lamb's wool beaters from decades ago.

These beaters provides a nice warm punch. I switch out my hard beaters with this. Great for R&B, Jazz and I even use it in a classic ROCK setting, where it provides the thud/punch without being too loud in a smaller room setting. Definitely useful in recording a bass drum to help in finding your an appropriate bass drum sound.

  • Nice warm thud achieved.

Swapped out a hard beater on a 24" bass drum for a jazz application. Gives a nice warm thud that still cuts thru the other instruments without too loud of an attack.

  • Good value, quick delivery

We needed this for the new (used) kit we obtained to use for our Big Band Rehearsals. The previous beater was to harsh for the music we play. This fits right in with our style.

  • Great product for the price

Bought my first one to use on my vintage Slingerland drum kit with a 20" bass drum and it is awesome. I use the Aquarian Superkick II without additional muffling and by adding this beater gave me the low end thump I needed from a 20" bass drum. Great control on volume without the extra effort. Bought my second one to use on my brand new Sonor Safari drum kit with the 16" bass drum. I'm sure it will work just as well.

Changes the sound a whole bunch compared to your run-of-the-mill beater. The nly downside is that you will notice quite a bit of rebound lost compared to a harder beater.

New at the drum scene. Bought an Alesis command mesh kit. This, of course, is An electronic drum. Is this beater designed for an electronic kit?
