Overview

The GS-200 Genesis is a guitar stand constructed of automotive-grade materials. It features case-quality velvet pads to protect your guitar's finish. The fold-down support arms securely hold your instrument, and the legs lock open and closed for worry-free stability. Measures 32" (813mm) when set up, and 3.5" x 21" (89x533mm) when folded into a compact unit, it weights 3.1 lbs. (1.4 kg). Stand also features storage slots for your extra picks. 5-year warranty.

Friendly to your guitar's finish
Did you know that most expensive guitars use a nitrocellulose lacquer finish that requires special care? Because of the sensitivity of these finishes, our protective padding is a quality material surface that offers increased protection over standard surgical tubing, rubber, or foam found on other guitar stands (a high-quality case is recommended for long-term storage).

Leg locking system
Genesis Series guitar stands feature a unique, patented leg-locking mechanism. When setting up the stand, unlock and unfold the legs then lock in place for worry-free stability and strength. When finished with the gig, unlock the legs, fold, and lock for easy, compact portability. The ingenious leg lock eliminates what we like to call the "floppy leg syndrome" found with most all other guitar stands.

I got this stand to protect nitrocellulose finish but mine has the same foam pads, not the velvet. The major flaw with the stand is the neck/headstock rest. It flips for storage but does not lock in place when flipped around for use. You learn this the hard way, on time. I put a wide rubber band around the back through the grooves so it can't flip back up. The legs fold down and lock in place by turning a plastic knob. It's worn out over a year and this allows the legs to move back up. I will say I did use it every day for practice and gigs fou fourteen months, but it's dead now since the legs won't lock into position. I'me using the cheaper foam pad stand now and I wind cotton rope around the pads to protect my finishes. I wouldn't recommend this stand until the issues are fixed.

Just a great product

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand:

You can tell from the minute you pull this out of the box that it is 100% quality. Folds down to a compact size. Secure locking mechanisms. Plenty of height and even a pick holder built into the upper brace. I looked a long time for the best stand to hold up my costly guitar and this is the one to buy

Great Choice!

By S. Wood

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand:

I've been using this stand of several years - originally got it for acoustic and liked the arms that support the bottom of the quitar - keeps the end pin plug off the ground and it's fast to get the guitar on and off the stand since it's doesn't wedge into the neck support. Works great for electrics too! Am getting a few more as I'm playing out with more guitars on stage these days. Compact, solid construction and very stable.

Excellent piece of gear!

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand:

I own four of these and recently purchased two for my son's birthday. I like the fact that the fold out "feet" will support heavier instruments - a very nice design feature. These stands also have a lower center of gravity and resist being knocked over. I will eventually buy more of them.

    Soft and Sturdy

    By Jay Gould _

    from HIdden Valley Lake, CA

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand:

Best guitar stand I've ever seen. It's sturdy, folds compactly, and cradles my guitar snugly yet softly. The padding does not have some of the chemical residues that some other rubber-types do, thus protecting the finish on my guitar. The pick slots are an added plus. This is the second one I've purchased and I may buy a third.

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand:

I bought this and used for a VERY short time on a Tele, based on an older GS-200 one of my friends has. Redesigned "ears" on the new model that support the guitar are not well finished and covered/padded where they insert into the legs of the stand. Exposed metal left scratches in my guitar body. I would not recommend this stand for any guitar (electric or acoustic) until they revert to the old design. Stick with the model 100 where your guitar hangs from the headstock. I wanted to get away from that for my heavy body electrics but will need to look further. If I can salvage this one for parts for my GS-100's (5 star rating for them) it will end up in the garage. Otherwise it's headed to the trash bin.

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand:

The neck support doesn't lock, so don't try and move it around using that with your guitar sitting in it. The two pegs for the bottom are okay. Not much to adjust, legs out and lock. The cheaper and basic versions works much better.

Comments about Ultimate Support GS-200 Genesis Guitar Stand:

While not a pro, I averaged more than a gig a week in a former band, and my current new group plays at least twice a month, with the average trending upwards.
I have been using these Ultimate Support guitar stands since I discovered them 6 or so years ago. I recently left one at a jam session, and it disappeared before I could go back for it, so I'm replacing it.
If you play a Strat, Tele, or similar 6-on-a-side head guitar, get this model stand. The one without the lower supports can allow some guitars to twist out and fall. The only other knock I have on these stands is the leg locking mechanism. On my older units, after a couple of years the locks become loose and don't securely latch into place when you "lock" them. It isn't a problem usually because when you put a guitar on the stand, the weight pushers the legs in place. But when folded up, if the legs aren't locked, one or more can stick out, and I've nearly damaged one by carelessly tossing in the back of the gear van and having it snag on something more substantial and getting damaged.
I still like them better than anything else I've found, so I'll keep using them.
Oh, and Ultimate Support Systems customer service is awesome! I've had to contact them on other of their products our band uses, and they very willing and able to resolve any issues that are design or quality control related. They may have even upgraded the leg locks by now...I'll find out soon.
