The Trick Big Foot Drum Pedal is an engineering marvel. It features innovative design elements, aerospace materials--titanium, billet aluminum, stainless and hardened steel--and is machined on the latest state-of-the art CNC equipment. These technical innovations result in one thing: A drum pedal that plays like no other.

The Big Foot model single pedal has all of the same features as the original Pro 1-V Detonator, though it comes with a long board footboard. Instead of the traditional footboard heel block design, the Big Foot uses a one-piece footboard that pivots at the far end of the board.

Compression Spring Technology
The Big Foot Drum Pedal utilizes an internally housed compression spring. Compression springs have the ability to "cycle" faster and utilize energy more efficiently. The benefit is a pedal that will react as fast as your foot. The compression spring works with the profiled cam follower to reduce the amount of spring tension buildup as the beater approaches the drumhead; this gives you a more fluid stroke from beginning to end. Spring tension is adjustable while you're playing - simply turn the spring dial that's conveniently located within easy reach at the top of the main housing. Imagine no longer having to remove your bass drum pedal from the hoop to change tension settings.

Independent Split-Cam System
Because of the split-cam system's design, you can now change the attitude and attack of the pedal in seconds. Trick's fully independent split-cam system allows the player to infinitely and independently adjust the beater from the drive cam angle with a 360-degree range of smooth yet solid settings. This system also allows for immediate conversion of the Pro 1-V Detonator into a cocktail kit pedal or a triggering pedal.

Multi-Position Stroke Adjustment Cluster
This three position cluster is an integral part of the sophisticated geometry at work on the Pro 1-V Detonator. It gives the player separate adjustments for the footboard angle, pedal action, and throw. This feature is patent pending.

Universally adjustable, the Pro 1-V Detonator Bass Drum Beaters can be easily moved to any height/angle along the titanium shafts within seconds by using a standard size drum key. This allows the beater to strike your desired location on any sized bass drum without radically affecting the overall pedal feel. Hard/soft surface change-out options are also included with beaters.

The Pro 1-V Detonator footboard is machined from solid billet aluminum that is rigorously fracture tested to 12,000 lb. per square inch. The footboard is attached to the heel plate using a pressed-fit hardened solid steel pin which is extremely reliable and durable.

Base Plate
The base plate is machined from solid billet aluminum. This provides the Pro 1-V Detonator with an ultra sturdy platform on which everything else is built. The base plate is tensile strength certified to withstand over 12,000 PSI.

Slide-Trac Rapid Release Hoop Clamp
This multi-purpose feature streamlines your set-up time. To connect the Big Foot pedal to your bass drum, simply hold down on the spring loaded lever and slide the pedal onto your hoop and release! No more fumbling to screw and unscrew wing nuts. When it's time to pack up, simply squeeze down on the lever to disengage the clamp, remove your Pro 1-V Detonator pedal, and hit the road! The Slide-Trac has three memory set-screws so you can pre set your hoop size and distance from the head for fast set up and tear down, time after time. It also allows the Pro 1-V Detonator to fit snugly and perfectly on any brand of bass drum hoop regardless of the width or thickness.

This is truly a pedal like no other. Experience the difference. Try one for yourself today.

Comments about Trick Big Foot Single Drum Pedal:

This pedal is absolutely incredible!! It's unreal how good they are (I have the double pedal version). They are my personal favorite. They are fast, light, smooth, easily personalized and durable. Don't get me wrong, DW's, Iron Cobra's, And Axis are all great . Most people don't realize that. People that are constantly looking for "the best" pedal aren't going to find it. It gets to a point where some products are top of the line and it's all about the player's personal preference. If you are deciding on a pedal, do yourself a favor and play each one and then decide based on use, price, and playing style. All I'm saying is, these are by far my favorite pedals.

Initial Thoughts

Comments about Trick Big Foot Single Drum Pedal:

I've only had this pedal for a couple months and I am still waiting for the laser triggers to come in before I can really test drive them in a live setting. So far I have been mainly using them on the practice pad and experimenting with the various settings of which there are quite a few. I have been using Axis Longboards for the past few years and still like them very much. They are a quality pedal and have improved my playing considerably. I was intrigued by the Trick because of the variety of setting possibilities and the new laser trigger which requires no calibration. The Trick has a more solid and heavier feel than Axis. It is physically a heavier pedal. The spring is unique to Trick (as far as I know) and that was intriguing to me as well. This definitely gives the pedal a very smoothe feel and makes certain patterns a little easier to perform. You have to control the pedal but the spring works with you on the forward and backward strokes. This will make playing certain figures easier. The settings I find most valuable are the ability to set hoop depth so that the beater angle can be vertical at the point the beater strikes the head. Of course this is customizable too if you prefer different. The spring tension is brilliant and can be adjusted in seconds with no fuss. The footboard and beater angle are totally adjustable and fully independent of each other. I do not know of another pedal with this versatility. Most of the other settings are variations of what Axis and most other pedals have except that with the Trick the quality is the best I've ever seen. I will write a more comprehensive performance review after the triggers are installed and I put them to actual use on the kit. When researching these pedals I was most interested in a side by side comparison with Axis but couldn't find that. I don't think you can go wrong with this pedal or the Axis for that matter. Feature for feature I'd have to say the Trick is the best pedal available today. But it always comes down to personal preference and there are a lot of quality pedals on the market to chose from. I have tried the Pearl Demon Drives as well as Axis and Trick and I've have to say the Trick outperforms them even though there is probably nothing that you could do on one pedal that you couldn't do with the other. It all comes down to comfort, what you want and what you can afford. If you can afford Trick, then get it!

Phenominal Pedal!

from Fords, NJ

Comments about Trick Big Foot Single Drum Pedal:

I could go on for days about this pedal. I purchased 2 along with the SB1 trigger system. Every feature described in the product description is spot on and exceeded my expectations in actual practice. The pedal has a very solid feel to it and just exudes quality in every aspect. While some features are what you'd expect others are genius and a great time saver in certain situations. I'd like to go into detail but this review would turn into a novel. If you are familiar with direct drive pedals or just interested in them I would have to say this pedal is the superior one on the market. I also use Axis which is similar but has a few key differences. The Axis pedal feels very light whereas the Trick has some mass and feels more solid. The compression spring on the Trick really does feel smoother than any other pedal I've ever played. Axis is close though. You are able to adjust the depth of the Trick so that the beater will hit the head at the vertical. The Axis will be slightly past vertical. The trick is louder upon impact. You can independently adjust the footboard and beater distance. The measurement markers are great to remember settings. Axis only allows some adjustment but one affects the other. The Axis trigger is genius, the Trick is revolutionary! The difference between Axis and Trick is more one of feel and preference. For the price of the Trick you should expect something from your pedal. Trick without question, delivers on all fronts.

Comments about Trick Big Foot Single Drum Pedal:

Great quality and very versatile. I like the easy adjustments on the fly. You can even make some quick adjustments between songs for different styles.
    Smooth and fast.
I did change the beater though. Grabbed one out of my old Pearl.
