An amp for modelers!

By Strat Matt

from Davenport, Iowa

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

This is a great amp for modeleers such as the POD 2.0, Pod XT Live, or the Boss GT-8. What you put into it is what you get out of it, a clear reproduction, uncolored. Get 2 of them and go stereo. This is a less expensive alternative to the Atomic Reactor amp, but is definitely worth a listen.

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

I have owned this amp for almost 6 years. It is fantastic. I use an Line 6 X3 and this is fantastic. With almost 15 years of professional experience, I can tell you without a doubt, that this is the best way to go. This thing will get loud if you need it to, but we always mic it, so I never have the need to go up higher than 1/4 of the way. Does not color sound at all...and is light weight, but has taken a beating from me, and still looks new. This is a great road amp, if you use lots of effects, like I do. Plus, at the price, you cant beat the quality of Tech 21.

Pure uncolored sound!!

By CraigNY

from Long Island, New York

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

I purchased this to use with my Vox Tonelab St and it suits it perfectly. This is THE product to use with any pre-amp or effect processor. It offers a clean sound that will not "color" your tone. There is an on board EQ in case you need to tweak the sound. If you run any kind of these effect units the Tech 21 is the only way to go. Its built well(like all of their products), it's lightweight, and it's LOUD! If you need more power you can daisy chain these from here to eternity!

needs a little work

By Craig storaug

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

The Tech 21 power engine is a great concept. You buy an amp with the least amount of features and it will not mess up your procceser's sounds when your useing it. Once you program your procceser to the amp, your good to go. The one major draw back I found was the amount of noise the amp makes when turned on. It's not a quiet amp!, it sounds like the ground is not working right. I would say it was just my amp, but I have exchanged the amp three times and all the amps have the same noise when turned on. My RP1000 noise gate helps a little in keeping the noise down, but I would only use the amp for gigs. To record with it would be a nightmare of backround noise.Turn on the amp and put the controls all at 50% and listen to the buzz before buying

Dual Tone Heaven!

By Michael Carpenter

from San Diego, CA

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

A must have for anyone who uses any kind of modeling. Studio to stage by just plugging in. Been recording for years with Line 6 PODs and other modeling systems using Line 6 Variax 700 and Ibanez RG 570 guitars, Ibanez SR Series bass and a Yamaha acoustic. I use a massive variety of styles and tones and FINALLY I get to hear the exact tones live!!! I bought two of these Tech 21 Power Engine 60s for L/R dual-tones that I use with my POD X3 Live. The perfect tones that were in my headphones and recordings are now filling the room without any coloration from preamps; George Benson, David Gilmour, Brian Setzer, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Perry Al DiMeola, et. al. These Celestion Seventy80 speakers are every bit as sweet as the vintage 1968 Celestions I used to have. Volume on 2 at home is perfectly warm yet still punchy and growling. Dead silent until I touch a string. Turn them up to 5 and the house rumbles. I don't need to try 10, but you can daisy chain unlimited amps to build and amp-wall if you want to. The tweed grills make them look like furniture in my living room too.

It goes really well with every plugin and gadget I own

By Darin Boyd

from Pensacola, FL

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

I LOVE this unit. I've been looking for a while for a way to monitor my tone and send the regular modeled speaker cabinet sounds to the board. This unit sounds great with the speaker sims left on and it makes playing a lot more fun with the added interactivity with the speaker. I've used it with POD HD500, Amplitube 3, Amplitube Fender, Guitar Rig 4 and POD Farm. The patches I create for the full range mix sound pretty darned good right into the Power Engine, so all I have to do is plug it in and forget about it. There is also an eq on the unit to tweak it a little for the room. I've always enjoyed the flexibility of modular rigs, but it is a hassle to have a power amp, rack and separate cab when you want to do something quick and easy. This is one more reason I love the Power Engine. It is feather light, loud, great sounding and you can't heat your house with it! When I replace my iMac, my rig will be a MacBook Pro and the Power Engine.

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

I recently moved to a Line 6 POD HD500 and was in need of an amp. I am a huge fan of the Line 6 merchandise but even the smaller amps come preloaded with amp modeling and effects...something I don't need with the HD500. I had also tried several small amps using the clean channel in order to maintain the integrity of my tones on the HD500. Every amp created a "color" on the tones. They were either bland, fuzzy or muddied up. Enter the Tech 21 Power Engine 60. Awesome. Affordable. LOUD!! I unboxed it, plugged it in, messed with the low-mid-high settings and never looked back. I will be purchasing another one as soon as possible in order to get my stereo sound form my presets on the HD500 but if I never raise the funds to do so, this single unit will do more than fine. Kudos to Tech 21 for an awesome product. KILLER!

Eleven Rack Problem Solver

By Dave _Goddard

from Ashburn, Virginia

Comments about Tech 21 Power Engine 60:

I bought the Tech 21 Power Engine 60 from GC used. It was like brand new. I wanted something to faithfully reproduce the modeled amps from my Avid Eleven Rack. Running the Rack through my other amps seemed to color the sound of the models and they didn't sound as real. I had read about this Tech 21 and seen a few demos on Youtube and decided to try it. It took several days to finally get the neutral sound I was looking for to allow the fullness of the amp models in the Eleven Rack to radiate through but once dialed in, WOW! I have to say it's like having all the classic amps in my studio, that's how realistic it sounds. The positioning of the knobs is a little weird but no biggie. I am so glad I found the Tech 21 Power Engine 60. It does have a three band e.q. to mess with the sound but once dialed in, the sound is rich, full and schweeeeet. Hey, it has a Celestion 12" speaker inside. Each day the sounds get better and better as the amp gets broken in. Honestly, if you are looking for that one piece of gear that will enhance to the max, your Sans Amp, Eleven Rack, POD or other pedal, you must give the Tech 21 a try. It was exactly what I was looking for my Eleven Rack to get the perfect sound I was looking for.

great amp but little flat on high end but their is a mod for it
add a pyle pdbt28 1 inch heavy duty titanium super tweeter to it for under 15 dollars and add the highness you hear in the headphones. just connect it to the speaker and mount it inside.
