Description

The Taylor Gold Label 514e Super Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar is a stunning work of master craftsmanship that introduces an all-new voice into the Taylor lineup. Developed by Taylor CEO and chief designer Andy Powers, the Super Auditorium is a bold evolution of the Grand Auditorium that enhances sonic richness, projection and depth while maintaining Taylor's signature playability. This model is part of Taylor's ultrapremium Gold Label Collection, blending vintage tonal inspiration with modern design and elegant styling. With a striking visual aesthetic, premium appointments and a tonal profile that leans warmer and rounder than the brand's typical character, the 514e Super Auditorium speaks to players seeking a refined, expressive acoustic-electric with broad musical range and a unique identity.

Taylor Super Auditorium Shape With Fanned V-Class Bracing

At the heart of the 514e is Taylor's new Super Auditorium body—slightly longer and wider than the Grand Auditorium, but still sleek and responsive. This fresh silhouette works in tandem with Taylor's Fanned V-Class bracing and deeper body to generate more low-end presence and enhanced projection, while preserving clarity and articulation. The result is a bigger, rounder acoustic voice with added headroom and a greater sense of dimensionality. Treble notes gain warmth, bass notes extend more deeply, and the mids retain focus. This makes the 514e equally suited for fingerstyle, strumming or dynamic flatpicking—especially in performance and recording environments where tone really matters.

Torrefied Spruce and Mahogany Tonewoods for a Bold, Articulate Sound

The Gold Label 514e Super Auditorium is crafted with a torrefied Sitka spruce top paired with a neo-tropical mahogany back and sides—a time-tested tonewood combination elevated by modern techniques. Torrefaction enhances the top's resonance and responsiveness, lending a more open, seasoned tone with greater sustain and harmonic richness. The mahogany back and sides provide dry, focused warmth with strong fundamental presence, ensuring that the 514e cuts through in a mix without harsh overtones. Together, these woods yield a beautifully balanced sound that's bold and full, yet articulate—ideal for players who want classic acoustic character with a modern feel and stage-ready voice.

Premium Taylor Build, Striking Gold Label Aesthetics

Visually, the Gold Label 514e stands apart with its premium appointments and unmatched artistry. A modified headstock shape with a script-style logo and Taylor's new Crest inlay motif—based on a red-tailed hawk feather—add elegant detail. The West African ebony fingerboard and headplate, Honduran rosewood Curve Wing bridge and premium Taylor nickel tuners complete the upscale presentation. Every element is crafted with Taylor's signature attention to detail and build quality, while the long-tenon Action Control neck ensures effortless setup and superb intonation across the fretboard for the life of the instrument.

LR Baggs Electronics for Natural-Sounding Plugged-In Performance

For players who need to amplify, the Taylor Gold Label 514e is equipped with the LR Baggs Element VTC system—a high-end, minimalist preamp known for its dynamic sensitivity and transparent tone. Featuring onboard volume and tone controls, it delivers a clean, full-frequency signal that retains the instrument's acoustic integrity in any amplified setting. Whether you're plugging into a DI for recording or playing through a live PA system, the Element VTC ensures that the 514e's natural warmth, clarity and resonance come through with professional polish. It's a straightforward, artist-trusted solution that complements the guitar's tonal strengths beautifully.

The Next Generation of Taylor Acoustics Has Arrived

The Taylor Gold Label 514e Super Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar is more than a one-off release—it's part of a thoughtfully curated series that reimagines what a Taylor guitar can sound like. With its rich, old-school voice and modern refinements, it represents the cutting edge of Taylor's acoustic evolution. From the handcrafted bracing and long-tenon neck to the aesthetic overhaul and upgraded appointments, this is a guitar built for serious players who want substance and sophistication in equal measure. Whether you're on stage, in the studio or at home, the Gold Label 514e offers a singular experience—both sonically and visually—and comes complete with a Taylor Deluxe hardshell case.

I recently purchased the 517E Builder's Edition and liked it but then my local GC got this guitar in and I loved it. The Blacktop is a beauty too. I also prefer the LR Baggs over the ES2.
