Overview

There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet playing just a few notes reveal the impressive voice of a full-size instrument. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. It's not too big, it's not too precious, and it's not too expensive. That broad-based accessibility has given it a resounding universal appeal, not to mention a built-in fun factor. The new small-scale GS Mini-e Bass now accomplishes all of this for players who require these attributes in a bass.

The GS Mini-e Bass incorporates a proprietary string set developed by D’Addario, along with a Taylor-patented dual-prong bridge pin that was designed to optimize the string break angle and produce pleasing bass notes with the shorter scale length. The result is an inviting, portable and great-sounding instrument that makes playing acoustic bass more fun and accessible to a broader range of guitar customers. The bass features the standard GS Mini body and scale length (23.5 inches), with layered sapele back/sides, a solid spruce top, new bracing, and new GS Mini-e Bass tuners in chrome. Details include a 1-11/16-in. nut width, 4 mm Italian acrylic dot fretboard inlays, 3-ring rosette, matte finish, and ES-B electronics featuring an onboard preamp with tone and volume controls and built-in digital chromatic tuner with an LED display for tuning and low battery indication. Ships in a durable GS Mini-e Bass hard bag with embroidered logo - perfect for players on-the-go.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

Electronics
The GS Mini-e Bass is equipped with ES-B electronics featuring an onboard preamp with tone and volume controls and built-in digital chromatic tuner with an LED display for tuning and low battery indication. The ES-B pickup system consists of Taylor's world-class ES2 pickup fine-tuned for bass strings, controlled by an ES-B preamp.

Other Features
The GS Mini-e Bass is equipped with D’Addario Custom Light (.037-.050-.062-.090”) strings, featuring a multifilament core wound with D’Addario’s EXP-coated phosphor bronze wrap wire for long-lasting tone and projection. The strings were designed exclusively for the GS Mini-e Bass, and because of the instrument’s unique design features, no other strings should be used. These strings have a wonderful handfeel that's excentuated by the instrument's scale, generating plenty of depth and growl.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini-e Acoustic-Electric Bass Regular:

I have played many of the acoustic bass out there and though I liked a few I found them very cumbersome and lacking in natural acoustic tone until playing this Taylor mini bass.I can sit anywhere and jam away with inspiring playability and great acoustic tone. The feel of the Dandario strings created fort this bass scale is fantastic ,extremely responsive .Most of all this little Bass is a blast ! The accompanying gig bag is nicely made ,I also purchased a SKS mini gs case which fits perfect,I like to use humidipacs so the case was a must.

    Dynamite in a small package

    By Chuck

    from Boise, ID

Comments about Taylor GS Mini-e Acoustic-Electric Bass Regular:

The Taylor GS Mini E Series Bass is fun to play! Plenty of juice and growl, yet with lighter finger picking, can produce very sweet tones. So light you can hardly feel the weight. The miniature fret board takes some getting used to. Frets become tiny as you move up the register. After the first couple of hours of playing, I was comfortable up to the twelfth fret. Curious to see how long the two tiny Lithium batteries will last. Like many electronic instrument these days, the bass will not play plugged in if the batteries go dead, so if you want to gig this little cutie of a bass, make sure you have spares batts! Only two small negatives: 1. Why no EQ? The single tone control knob limits sound control possibilities (but she sounds pretty sweet anyway). 2. This bass wants to feed back. May need to pick up a sound hole cover for louder applications.

Comments about Taylor GS Mini-e Acoustic-Electric Bass Regular:

This is a great practice Bass Guitar. I'm sure a person could jam/perform with it, but I still prefer my electric when to that type of venue. However, for easy, comfortable, no-hassle practicing or just noodling, it would be hard to beat this instrument. It has a really great sound for a Bass of this size. I have played the Ubass, and was impressed by its sound when plugged in. However, when you want to be untethered, it's not a very enjoyable experience. Also, the rubber strings and the size does not provide any semblance or playing a real Bass. The GS Mini with it's round wound type strings makes it feel and sound much closer to a full size Bass.

If you're thinking about buying one – do it! You won't regret it.
This bass is incredibly fun to play… The strings feel fantastic and the instrument has remarkably good projection for its size and the voice has a great "woody bark" to it.
I love it , GREAT JOB TAYLOR!

Comments about Taylor GS Mini-e Acoustic-Electric Bass Regular:

I am a guitar player but always wanted to learn a little bass. I am using it to play some basic bass lines with a guitar player friend and am having a blast. I find the volume plenty loud for playing with one acoustic guitar player in a living room. Straight into a PA it sounds good to me too, still very acoustic and not muddy at all (Again, I am a guitar player so I would leave it to a real bassist to access the tone, etc but I can say for sure I am very happy with the tone and playability)

      Guitar Players Bass

      By Butch

      from Charleston, SC

Comments about Taylor GS Mini-e Acoustic-Electric Bass Regular:

I am a singer, rhythm guitar player. Trying to explore I wanted to bring some bass into a acoustic duo, or trio project. I have owned several basses, acoustic and electric over the years. It always feels like it's a mile long and difficult to play.

This fits my hand, and I can't put it down. Other than gigs, it's the only thing I have picked up since the day I got it.

      Game changer for me.
