Description
The Taylor 214ce Plus Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric delivers the clarity and balance that Guitar Center customers expect from Taylor’s best-selling body shape. Its frame has a narrow waste, which makes it sit comfortably in your lap while you’re playing seated. Additionally, it has a narrower nut width of 1 11/16”, making it simple to fret chords and notes. The Taylor 214ce is constructed with layered rosewood back and sides, which pairs beautifully with a solid Sitka spruce top. This tonewood pairing provides the Taylor 214ce Plus with a room-filling projection and versatile sonic profile that sounds great across a variety of musical settings. Other features of this upgraded Plus model include black binding, a full-body gloss, Venetian cutaway and Taylor’s ES2 electronics for plug-and-play amplified sound.
The Taylor 214ce Plus is made with East Indian rosewood back and sides, which Bob Taylor ranks among the greatest tonewoods ever. It carries a frequency range at both ends of the tonal spectrum, making it one of the most popular and musically rich tonewoods. It’s also known for its deep lows and bright, sparkling treble notes, while also being able to assert a throaty growl. The sounboard is crafted from Sitka spruce, which produces a comprehensive lively range to accommodate a variety of playing styles.
The Grand Auditorium is Taylor’s signature shape that exemplifies the definitive all-purpose acoustic. It’s equally suited for light fingerpicking or medium strumming and flatpicking, and it’s the shape that helped establish Taylor’s acoustic sound. The Venetian cutaway boasts smooth, round lines and provides easy access to the highest fret. The sapele neck and African ebony fingerboard also offer great playability and response.
Taylor’s revolutionary Expression System 2 pickup design features a patented behind-the-saddle pickup. The behind-the-saddle pickup features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. This configuration allows the tone of the guitar to ring through clearly, whether playing acoustically or plugged-in, because the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge. With Taylor’s custom-designed professional audio grade preamp, the ES2 electronics produce exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness.
The Taylor 214ce Plus also features premium appointments, such as a forward shifted pattern bracing, which provides exceptional resonance support. It also features black body binding and a full-body gloss finish and ships in a new Aerocase, which is lightweight but sturdy enough to protect your guitar wherever you take it.
Other features of the Taylor 214ce Plus Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric include 4mm dot inlays, Taylor 18:1 nickel tuning machines, West African ebony headstock overlay and a Micarta wave saddle and NuBone nut. Taylor’s 200 Plus series models are for Guitar Center customers looking for advanced performance and all the essentials of an exceptional acoustic guitar.
