Overview

Taylor's 200 Deluxe Series, which includes this 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric, delivers all the essentials of a great guitar - exquisite playability, a full and articulate voice, impeccable intonation up the neck, and Taylor's top-of-the-line, professional-grade pickup - at a price that's within reach of many. This collection strikes a sweet balance between tasteful design constraint and aesthetic variety, bringing Taylor's signature tonal clarity and playability into a stage-worthy mix of guitar options. The DLX moniker refers to the addition of a fully-glossed body as opposed to a glossy top with satin back and sides. The 214ce DLX ships in a deluxe hardshell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.

Body Shape
The 214ce DLX features Taylor's original Grand Auditorium body which helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. The 214ce DLX features Sitka spruce, the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Its layered rosewood back and sides create a sturdy and complementary platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before.

Together with Taylor’s custom-designed "professional audio"-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar.

The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.

What sets Taylor Guitars apart?
Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased the black finish 214ce. It's a beatiful instrument, carefully built. The sound is spectacular, either plugged or not. No buzzing whatsoever. The string action is perfect. Overall, couldn't be happier with this guitar.

Exceeds any other guitar in the price range

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar a little bit less than a year ago. Honestly, this is a perfect guitar. There is nothing to complain about on it. It is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played. In my opinion, it feels better than any other guitar on the market - period. I have played Gibson's, Martin's, and even other Taylor's in the high-end price range and the playability of this instrument exceeds all of them by a longshot. Perhaps it just perfectly matches my body shape and what-not. However, you have to consider purchasing this guitar. You cannot get a better acoustic in this price range. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is 11/10 for me.

Bought this guitar after about a 20 year break from playing. I have to say that I enjoy playing this more than my electric. Wonderful sound, great finish, awesome guitar for the money. I did quite some research before purchase and this guitar was the right choice.

Playability is wonderful; great and easy neck action. Sounds beautiful as somewhere between my MartinDreadnought and my smaller Ibanez Concert model. Crisp, clear and melodic. Looks great and excellent craftsmanship. Taylor does it again!!! Buy this Guitar. Top of the line and affordable.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I bought a Martin GPCPA4, but really didn't like the feel of the neck. Not a fan of the fake wood (black richlite). It just feels tacky to me.

Went back looking to get the 314CE, but also picked this up. Wasn't initially looking at it, since the back and sides are layered instead of solid wood, but this 214CE DLX just felt better in my hands when playing. It has 1 1/6875 nut where as the 314 and the Martin have a 1.75 nut. It does make a difference depending on your playing style.

Also love the gloss body. While it is not quite as full sounding as the Martin or Taylor 314CE, it still sounds great and this one just felt perfect. Very, very happy I bought it.

At 1/2 the price of the 314CE, I saved enough that I also purchased the 214CE-N. Now have a great sounding, playing steel and nylon guitar.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Two years ago I decided to learn how to play the guitar. I started out with a basic Fender which was a good beginner guitar for me. Recently I made the upgrade to my Taylor and I just can't put it down, just an incredible sound. This guitar makes me want to play and learn something new everyday.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Absolutely fantastic guitar. I will say that I had to take back several for bad necks, so make sure you check yours out before taking yours home. I can't explain it, but this Deluxe sounds better than most of the more expensive models (314, 414, 614, etc). It is also hands down better than the regular 214 ce. I don't know how to describe it, but the 214 ce deluxe is superb. Get it and you won't regret it.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been wanting to upgrade my acoustic for years and finally decided to. I thought I would miss my old trusty Epiphone, but that simply won't be the case. I've never been happy with a Taylor I've played, but apparently I've just been paying the wrong guitars. The neck and action are great and you can easily barre chords all the way down the neck. The guitar has a nice bright sound, but isn't overwhelming; it's crisp. The Taylor hard shell case is top notch and the tobacco burst finish is beautiful. This guitar has won me over to Taylor and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Easily one of the best playing acoustic guitars I've ever played. The music store I was at also had a consigned Taylor 614 and it was an absolutely amazing guitar too. But the guy selling it also wanted double the price of the 214ce DLX. The 2nd gen electronic system from Taylor has worked extremely well for me and I foresee using this guitar for a LONG time to come.

Great guitar; I have owned Taylor 310ce,414ce, GS mini and a standard 214 acoustic. This guitar plays just as well as it looks. It is not a solid body guitar; but it plays well. Good full sound that does not sound thin or "tinny" when you strum it hard. Better than the standard 214?in sound.

I was very impressed with this guitar when I received it in the mail. First off, the guitar case is extremely nice and fits the guitar perfectly. The guitar is absolutely stunning and can't keep my eyes off of it. The Indian Rosewood is a great look that gets me tons of complements. And...don't forget about the amazing sound this guitar creates. The guitar has a very full sound and well balanced. Once I start playing it, I have trouble putting it back down. Definitely recommend spending the extra for the deluxe over the regular. You will regret the decision if not.

When I unpacked my newly shipped 214 I was amazed by it's sheer beauty. Richer and warmer than even the photographs. Most importantly, it felt right from the first moment I held it. I had tried many other guitars, including some wonderful Martins, but there is no way to describe the mystical bond between man and guitar. This is my go-to guitar. I love its characteristic bright, happy Taylor sound.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've had a relatively cheap Fender acoustic guitar since I was about 14. I'm 42 now and just replaced it with this Taylor.

When I stopped into Guitar Center to browse for a new acoustic, like many others I made a beeline for the Martins. Growing up, Martin was always the pinnacle of acoustic guitars for me. I played a couple of them and wasn't let down. Then I picked up the Taylor. To say I was blown away is an understatement. I'm pretty sure I fell in love with this guitar immediately.

This thing plays like a dream. The action is fairly low for an acoustic, and the neck is arrow straight. The fretboard is wider at the nut than my old Fender, which makes playing at the lower end of the neck much easier. As cliche as it sounds, this guitar plays itself. It's the kind of guitar that makes you a better player because it is such a joy to play. I have a difficult time putting it down.

                        Sound:
The sound of this guitar is darn near perfect. Tone is even throughout it's range, and it has what I consider to be the perfect balance of warmth, bass, and brightness. Chords ring true and evenly, and single notes ring. I've only played for a few people so far, but they've all made unsolicited comments about how nice it sounds.

                        Amplified:
I only played it through a small acoustic amp at the store, but my first word was "wow". The sound coming out of the amp was exactly what it should be: an amplified sound of the unplugged guitar. It simply sounds great.

                        Looks:
This is gorgeous guitar. From the slotted diamond fretboard inlays to the mother of pearl ring around the sound hole to the general construction of the guitar itself, it is flawless. Both the spruce top and rosewood back are book-matched, which adds a nice touch of craftsmanship.

                        Case:
The case that comes with this guitar is sturdy and handsome. At $200 retail for the case alone, it means that this deluxe model is just $200 more than the 214ce.

                        Bottom Line:
Don't play this unless you want to buy it.

For the price, you can't beat this guitar. It has it all: Sound, playability, quality and attention to detail.
I guess if I had to be critical of anything, I would like to have an 1-3/4" nut width instead of the 1-11/16 ..... but even that's no big deal.

Go buy this guitar- You won't be disappointed.

Went in to Guitar Center in New Orleans just to get some strings. Got the strings, but they came attached to this Taylor! It mainly gets used in student praise band at church by my son. Great pickup system, but has a very rich tone played dry or through a PA. Particularly love the electronic setup because it is not bulky, which can take away from tone and resonance. If you need a great guitar in this price range, this is definitely one to look at. Actually liked it better than the more expensive models!

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This guitar is an alright sounding guitar, however it lacks the bright sound/constant ringing of the solid wood Taylor guitars. I used to own a Taylor 314ce a few years ago, and sold it. Subsequently, I was looking again for a great guitar that would compare to the 314ce's excellent pure tone quality. This guitar does not have the pure resonance sound that the Taylor 416ce-R has, which was the guitar I exchange it for, with a price upgrade of about $1100 (a bit more pricey than the 314ce). If you are a beginner I would highly recommend this guitar, since it does stay in tune and has good sound which keeps its tone fairly constant. Keep it mind that it is not solid wood, but layered wood.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been playing the guitar for around four years, so I thought I would buy myself a better guitar than my $150 Acoustic Fender.

I went 'guitar shopping' one weekend with the intention of buying the Taylor 114CE. I played it and loved it, but on a whim decided to try the 214CE Deluxe out. It was a little out of my price range, but I figured that I might as well see what I couldn't afford. Not a lie, I felt it ring through my torso and was amazed at how rich and beautiful it sounded even against the 114 (honestly, even against the standard 214). It has a clear bright sound that sounds a little like honey. One guy I know who also plays just finger picked and immediately said, "Oh, she just sings, doesn't she?" and that is probably the thing I noticed the most at first. I feel like, especially while finger picking, that I have to put a fair amount of effort in to get sound out of my Fender. The Taylor 214 CE DLX does not have this problem. You barely brush against the strings and it rings out. Truly beautiful to hear.

I also love the neck. It has a satin finish and is the quickest neck I've ever played, and I played a bunch that weekend. Even people who don't play have commented that my transitions are very smooth and it's honestly because the neck is so fast. I get no buzz (but it's a Taylor, so, ya know), and nowhere on the neck is there a dead sounding spot. If your finger is in the right spot, you'll hear it clear and loud. I had another buddy look at it who plays a lot more lead than I do and he mentioned that he loved the neck, adding that he might need to sell his acoustic and buy one of the Taylor 214s.

The guitar also comes with a killer case. It is well made and well designed. It's funny because there is literally no room around the body for anything but the guitar. It does have a nice compartment under the neck for a capo and tuner and such.

Bottom line, for the money, I wouldn't have chosen another guitar. Highly recommended.

Comments about Taylor 214ce DLX Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I luckily got a great deal by the saleswoman. It played amazing and since a 2 month break in period it sounds even better. My only recommendation is to play through an acoustic amp when playing with others. Dreadnoughts tend to overpower the volume of this guitar. Otherwise, this tone and playability is unbeatable at this price point.
