Overview

Taylor's 100 Series makes a great guitar-playing experience accessible to everyone with these real wood instruments. 100 Series models have layered walnut backs and sides, as well as new architecture for even more volume and dynamics. For people taking the first or next step in their musical journey, these instruments promise to accelerate players' growth and enhance their enjoyment.

Taylor's famous neck profile, combined with a 1-11/16-in. nut width, make it easy for developing players to form barre chords. All 100 Series models include a durable, 600-denier nylon gig bag with double-stitched seams and reinforced stress points.

Grand Auditorium
A Taylor original, the Grand Auditorium helped establish the Taylor acoustic sound. The popular body style makes for a versatile guitar that yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.

Tonewoods
A guitar's top is the primary filter and distributor of vibrating string energy through the guitar, which means it has a huge impact on its sound. Sitka spruce is the most prevalent guitar top wood of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions which translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered walnut back and sides create a sturdy, yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability.

Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s ongoing innovation in acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the nuance of the guitar's tone to come through clearly whether playing acousticly or plugged-in. The location of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured than ever before while playing plugged-in. Together with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. On stage through a PA, plugged into your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. The Taylor Expression System 2 operates through a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment and easy-to-use volume, bass and treble controls.

The Taylor Difference
What sets Taylor Guitars apart? Unmatched build quality, the most stable and playable necks, a vast array of tonal options, eco-conscious and ethically-sourced raw materials, and a lifetime of service and support.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2017 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Without considering price at all, I tried every acoustic guitar that I was interested in at Guitar Center. Hands down, this was the absolute best sounding, most comfortable guitar they had. I liked it much better than the $2500 guitars there. (Note, I was willing to spend up to 3K on my new acoustic) The first time I strummed that Em chord, I knew this was the one. I did try others after that, but nothing compared to how beautiful this one sounded. The cutaway is comfortable too and lets you get up at those high frets. After I had ordered it I went home and did some research on the guitar. I found that it is considered a beginner's guitar. Let me tell ya, I've been playing for over 25 years now and still, this one was the guitar I wanted most out of the whole lot.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2017 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old and have had the same Yamaha acoustic guitar since I started playing. I decided it was time for an upgrade because my Yamaha was starting to sound dull and lifeless to me. (Plus it's 10 years old). I did so much research and played so many guitars but one day I went to my local guitar shop (not GC) and picked up this very guitar and just knew that this was the guitar. It has such a crisp- steel string sounding ring. It's full of sound, the perfect size, and the fret board is not too big nor too small. It's light weight and so much easier to play than any other guitar I've ever played. I cannot explain to anyone how pleased I am with this guitar, and I will definitely be purchasing more Taylor's in the future. I understand this guitar is a pretty penny, but it is a guitar that is built to last you a lifetime.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2017 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Beautiful looking instrument, played perfectly out of the box. The action/neck is very similar to an electric guitar, comfortable, easy. What sold me of course was the sound. I played one chord and said, "so this is what a real guitar sounds like." If you are looking for a quality instrument, give it a try.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2017 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm still learning to play. I had $150 guitar previously that was difficult to play and it really hindered my progress because there was nothing I could seem to do to conquer barre chords. I picked up this guitar and could instantly play them! I was blown away. I bought my first guitar based on appearance. I told myself with my next guitar I was going to buy based on playability and sound and not get hung up on the aesthetics. My goal was to get an instrument that made me want to play. This guitar is just that! The front side of this guitar is indeed very plain but the back side is beautiful with the layered walnut. I also notice a sound quality difference between the layered walnut and the previous versions layered sapele backs. To my ears the new layered walnut has a more balanced tone and the bass is more pronounced.

I hope to eventually upgrade again but overall this is a great guitar especially for someone learning and looking for a guitar that is easy to play. The Taylor brand has definitely won me over!

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2017 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is a great guitar! I am a 5'1 female and it fits perfect - not too bulky. I love the action on this guitar and it just feels so nice to play. Hard to find a guitar that sounds great, feels great to play and fits a smaller frame person.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 2017 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Spent some time in the acoustic room recently and played numerous guitars. Let me tell you, this thing is a cannon! The loudest guitar in the room. It also had a great tone, like a more expensive guitar. Much better than anything near it's price. Taylors are easy to play as well, a very comfortable neck profile. Build quality was top notch. If it wasn't a few hundred above my budget, I absolutely would have bought it on the spot. The walnut was beautiful too. I stopped in a week later, it was gone and I'm not surprised. I didn't plug it in so I can't rate that aspect. An excellent value, try one and you'll like it.
