Overview

Like the 200 Series, the 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar incorporates laminate back and sides, which offer extra resilience to fluctuating climate conditions, and a slightly narrower 1-11/16-inch neck. It's one of the best full-size guitars you'll find for the money, especially with the availability of Taylor's ES-T pickup. It makes a viable performance tool, a great entry-level guitar, or a second utility guitar for alternate tunings.

Tonewood
As a guitar soundboard, or top, Sitka spruce is the tonewood standard of the modern era. It's used on 85-90 percent of the guitars that Taylor makes. Its combination of strength and elasticity translates into a broad dynamic range, yielding crisp articulation and allowing for everything from aggressive strumming and flatpicking to fingerpicking. Sitka spruce is Bob Taylor's personal favorite for an all-around great guitar.

Grand Auditorium (GA)
The GA is Taylor's most versatile and popular shape, excelling at light-touch fingerstyle to full-blown strumming. Great for mic'ing and recording, the GA's balanced mid-range and bright tone exemplify the Taylor voice.

Taylor ES-T
Devloped by the same Taylor team that invented the Expression System pickup, the Taylor ES-T Under-Saddle Transducer takes piezo technology to another level. Optimized for the 100 and 200 Series, the system features onboard Bass, Treble, and Volume controls plus custom-voiced EQ and dynamic response.

Includes gig bag.

My main issue with this guitar is the top and the very light coating of the Polymer Finish. This is not a durable guitar the way it is constructed. If you pick and play it hard be concerned about what you will do to the Sapele Laminate. My second issue is when I reached out to Taylor they told me to go see a repair specialist. When I posted what the specialist said about their Polymer finish on the 100 & 200 models they removed my post from Facebook. If you are a strummer I would get a Martin or a Taylor with a lacquer finish.

Just amazing!

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'm by no means an expert guitarist but I've been playing for about 4 years and decided it was time to upgrade from my old Yamaha. After searching for months, going to various music stores to play around on multiple guitars, looking at reviews, and asking other guitar friends I finally decided on the Taylor 114ce. I love the bright clear sound it gives! It compares, and if not exceeds, almost any other guitar near its price range (I considered buying up to $1200). I haven't had it long enough to know its durability but it seems to be good in this area. All in all a great guitar and you won't be disappointed. So in short, Pros: -Excellent sound! Very clear and bright! -Came ready to go from factory (Elixir 80/20 bronze strings with nanoweb coating) -Great look and feel -Included gig bag was much better than I expected Cons: -Basically nothing, but not having a built in tuner can be annoying Don't waste your time doing any more searching, just buy this one. You will not be disappointed.

Great Guitar

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I spent about 3 hours at Guitar Center playing different guitars the day I bought my 114ce. I played the 214ce and the 214ce Deluxe and wasn't that impressed. The 214ce Deluxe had a great sound but it didn't feel as smooth as I was expecting. I have been playing nylon string guitar for many years so I like guitars that are easy on the left hand. The 300 series was incredible but it was a bit too high for my budget. After playing the 114ce a couple of times I realized it was a lot easier to play and had a more powerful sound than the 24ce and 24ce deluxe. So without thinking it twice I bought the 14ce and I am really happy with it so far.

sounds and plays amazingly

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for 2 years. It has always played amazingly, but its durability is great. I have always played cheap guitars because I am so rough on them. So when my wife got me this guitar for christmas, I felt guilty that I would have this beutiful guitar destroyed within a matter of months. Two years later, Still beutiful. And I dont baby it, I treat it just like my $200 guitars. If I ever need another acoustic, It will be a Taylor. Go to guitar center, Grab the cheapest Taylor, and the most expensive Martin, compare them. You'll be surprised!

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been playing in bands for 30+ years, played many guitars through the years and the Taylor has been the most outstanding acoustic that I've owned. It has a great rich tone, easy playing fret board, and really stays in tune. For the money, I'd say try one. I know you get what you pay for but this truly is nice.

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This Taylor 114ce took me by surprise.I have several guitars including Gibson,Epiphone, and Olympia Tacoma. This guitar in my opinion beats them all.IT is loud, crisp, and has great sustain. The action is perfect and the neck very easy to navigate.Sounds better acoustically than plugged in but is still a great guitar. I have no need for a better guitar but if I did it would be a Taylor...I am hooked!

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I've been a Taylor guitar fan since 1995. People used to have to travel great distances to pick up their Taylor in Austin, Texas. I don't know why... Some would stay in our B&B as the half way overnight stop near Amarillo, TX as recommended by fellow Taylor guitar purchasers. Since they knew I played the guitar, they would give me a show and tell on their way back for example - Colorado. I finally purchased my first Taylor 114CE in 2009 and I get complements all the time on how good it sounds. If I play my Fender Tele, I get compliments on how good of a player I am, not on how good the guitar sounds. I prefer to hear that the sound of my guitar is superior over my ability to play! My Taylor is almost 10-years old and it still plays like it was brand new, only better now with a little age! By the way, I detune down to "D" on the E string so I can sing high notes and the 114CE is awesome sounding!

Comments about Taylor 100 Series 114ce Grand Auditorium Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking for that dream guitar under $1000 and found this. After playing probably 50 guitars, it came down to the Taylor 214ce and the Martin DX1AE. This Taylor has great sound overall. The only drawback is it is not that great for fingerpicking. The strings are pretty close and I feel like I am always trying to play hard to get more sound out of it. You can't beat it plugged in!
