A friend has used the original BG250 for years and has told me I needed to purchase one. He swears by his and uses it at every venue for every concert. I use a 412 setup in larger venues and out door gigs and am a fan of the 12" speaker tone. This little combo rocks the tone and has plenty of power for rehearsals, small to medium venues and for larger ones where you only need it for stage monitor for the bass. The direct out is great for putting you tone or an I colored bass out to the sound engineer. I love using the Aux Input for my MP3 player while learning new tunes and the headphone output keeps peace in the house with the Old Lady! Very affordable and surpasses my expectations for a light weight bass combo. The TC Electronic, BG250 combos are well worth the investment no matter the speaker configuration. This baby would have gotten five stars IF I could use more than one Tone Print at a time.

New bassist, however long time guitarist who made the switch to bass just over a year ago. I'd probably put this at about 2.5 stars overall. I needed a bass amp for practice and some small live jam sessions with friends--mainly classic rock. I had looked at the TC combo line up for a long time and really (as seen in numerous videos) thought one of them would be a good buy for the features, power and low price. When they went on sale for $50 off, I pulled the trigger on the 1x12 combo. Initially I liked this amp. I was able to get a decent tone out of it at lower volumes for practice. I like the aux input and headphone out. All these features were great for practicing. The Toneprint feature was really nifty, however I don't I think would have used it as anything more than an entertaining novelty. What this amp lacked in my experience, and why I returned it, was that it couldn't seem to get up to the volume I was needed. I expected more at 250 watts. Also, there was definitely some cabinet vibration/buzz at higher volume levels.

Buy it and run.........

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I'm a casual weekend / church bass player. I have a SWR 4004 head and 4x10 that I just don't have the space or lower back to lug back and forth. Make a long story short, I was looking for a versatile combo to have at home that I could track with a DI and also have the ability to use in smaller situations. I was very worried about not having the power of at least dual 10s and the ability to handle a low B or even drop A. Most rigs I tried had a 15 and just got a little too muddy even with the tweeter option. I was able to try the Hartke Hydrive combo, and all things being equal, it was a great combo of its own, but just not my cup of tea. But I finally gave the BG250-112 a shot, not thinking I would care too much for it, but wow, I was wrong on sooooo many levels. This combo has far over met every expectation and use I've put it through. The tone print was an option I thought I would never use............ Again, I was proven wrong on various levels. The free downloadable tone prints are amazing, simple to use and add the perfect compliment to this unit. Quality: A+ Build quality: B little too light on the cabinet housing Sound: A. Just remember tone controls boost and cut Power: A plenty of power for small gigs and rehearsals Features: A+. If you run out of tone print inspiration or musical creativity, it's your own fault.

Superb amp for electric bass AND acoustic guitar

By FREDERICK ROBERTS

from Newport News, VA

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

Wow! This amp far exceeds my expectations while using with both electric bass and acoustic guitars! I was sold on this amp in the Guitar Center store in Virginia Beach after comparing to a few other amps with less wattage. This amp sounds super with great volume levels for both electric bass and acoustic guitars without the TonePrint feature. It is also much lighter than expected; even lighter than amps with less wattage! What really blew me away was that I was able to try many of the TonePrints from the manufacturer's website and find a chorus effect that works for both, as well as a driving "tube amp" effect for the bass. The headphone jack and the built-in tuner are also very handy, as well as the XLR output. Give this amp serious consideration!

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I've owned seveal combos in my 40+ years of playing, but this little guy is amazing. The sound is very tight with great punch, the kind of sound big wattage will give you. The toneprint feature is also unique, giving the amp multiple personalities. Plenty loud for combo style uses, low 30s weight, tuner, headphone out, aux in, pre/ post DI, TC quality and feel. What more could you want? Wish the toneprints were editable but then it would be perfect now wouldn't it? Buy it, you'll love it!

I bought a BG250 112 combo less than two years ago and it simply stopped working. While you can't expect great tone from an inexpensive amp like this, you should be able to get more than two years of service from it. Save yourself some grief and spend a bit more for something better because this amp won't seem so inexpensive when it craps out on you.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I've been using a Trace-Elliot 210 combo that weighs 86 lbs. I am getting old enough that I no longer can carry it around, so I wanted something much lighter and still have the sounds I want. The BG-250-112 satisfies both! This amp is only 36 lbs. The 12" speaker still has the brightness I like without the low end muddiness of some 15" speakers. The 3 band EQ is easy to get the sounds you like. I generally don't use effects, but the tone print feature may change that. I find myself using them quite a bit and there at tons of free tone print sounds that you can load in (only 2 at a time). The built-in tuner does an adequate job, but when checked against my rack tuner, it is off maybe 50 percent. The amp has a fairly high volume output for small clubs and venues, but it probably needs to use the DI on larger rooms or outdoors. I miss the amp not having an additional speaker output jack. It would be nice to add a cab if needed. However, the amp does everything I need and more! Construction is of nice quality. I am very happy with it. I bought this amp from the "blemished" tab and when I received it, I looked it over to see what was blemished and only found a small dent (the size of a pencil eraser)on one of the case corner bump caps, and I had to look hard to find it. I wouldn't be afraid to buy anything "blemished" from GC and save a few bucks! Overall...Excellent amp, excellent quality, Excellent price and Excellent service from GC. Buy one and you'll be smiling like me.

      BG250-112 Bass Amp

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I am a guitar player that dabbles in bass. I needed an amp that I could use for home practice and the occasional gig. This thing fits the bill quite well, I tried it along with a bunch of other amps in the same power range. It was the best sounding amp in the bunch, it's relatively light. Lots of useful features such as the headphone jack, and aux. input jack. I doubt I will ever use the Tone Print function, so that wasn't really a selling point for me. The only feature that I think could use some improvement is the onboard tuner, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I gave it 5 stars even with the sub par tuner, because I like the way this amp sounds.

this amp is the bomb!! without the toneprint its a great sounding amp and can get any tone you want with just a minor tweek of the tone controls. Add in the toneprint and this is all you need to take to the studio or a stand in gig. you have access to a lot of great effects and can change them for what ever you need at the time. the great bonus is that it weighs next to nothing. i sold my SWR super redhead to buy this amp. it does more than my swr could ever do and I dont have a back ache on my way into a gig. LOVE THIS AMP!!!!! thanks TC electronics

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

I first tried this Amp at the Guitar Center near where I live. I am a new player and I needed an amp that could keep up with a heavy hitting drummer, a 200w Crate Guitar amp, and a Marshall 100w tube guitar amp. This definitely fits the bill. It's got a big warm bass tone. I play a Squier Jazz bass and an Ibanez 5 string. The growly tone of the Jazz bass and the warm low of the Ibanez are both quite clear. I find that I have an easy time being heard and can keep up with the rest of the group. The three band eq is simple but it allows me to dial in some nice tone. The built in tuner is a nice feature also. The tone print effects are pretty cool and using the app on my android phone to load them was a trip. But I mainly play clean, or with some overdrive and chorus. My only Issues are that doesn't allow you to use both effects channels at the same time, and that the controller pedal is an additional purchase. That being said, this is a great amp for the money.

Can't say enough good things about this amp. I have a hofner club bass and the bottom on this is just outstanding. Ran my Ibanez sr700 through it couldn't be more satisfied. So quick and simple to find your tone. So light too. Don't hesitate to purchase I promise you'll not be disappointed. I have a Ampeg portaflex rig but this is so light it will be my go to amp from now on.

Comments about TC Electronic BG250-112 250W 1x12 Bass Combo Amp with 2 TonePrint Slots:

Tested this amp at GC in Raleigh with a Sterling SUB4 - WOW what a sound coming from this little 112 amp. BIG tone, very light compared to so many other combo amps I've used in the past - (Peavey TNT, Sun, Ashdown, Yamaha, Acoustic) and the construction is very solid. Nothing rattles, and for those that have problems with amps or any other electronics - GET A POWER CONDITIONER!!! It makes all the difference!! So I digress.. I recently saw a super talented band with two hot (loud) guitarists and a singer that played acoustic 12 string and the bass player walked in with his TC 115 I asked him how he liked it, he praised it saying he'd had it for 3 years and that it was the best combo amp he ever owned. More fuel for my fire, Next day I went down to GC and snatched the 112 - mainly because I saw the you tube comparison video. I think the 112 has best of both the 210 and 115 worlds. Clarity and good deep tone. If anything happened to this amp I'd replace it with the same amp in a heartbeat.

The amp is a good value at the sale price;great tone, lots of cool features.
The purchase process was a bit spotty, however. It took 9 days to ship the item, as apparently GC was planning to send a used/out of box amp, something that I did not explicitly agree to (unless it's buried in the terms and conditions).
So, caveat emptor. To be fair, a representative of GC intervened and had a new amp shipped to me after I inquired about the ship date.

This is a good low cost bass combo amp. It has numerous tones that can be dialed in, though none can deliver the smooth warmth I get out of my Eden head and Ampex cabs. But that's not apples to apples. It is lighter weight which is nice for hauling around to rehearsals. Plenty of power for that. I'd be able to use this in a small club setting too. The tolex cover does seem to tear easily...cheap tolex? I would certainly consider buying another if this was stolen. At first I bought a Fender Rumble 100 but returned it because it sounded a bit tinny to me. I think that's a function of it being too light weight. GC took it back after a week without any hassle
