Comments about TAMA Lars Ulrich Diamond Plate Steel Snare Drum 14x6.5:

this drum although loud is not what you would expect from lars Ulrich. It is increadably hard to tune becasue the substain from when hit it changes alot...and the prie is a little steep. i would probably recomend you look around befor you invest in this snare drum,or get Lars counter part "Bell Brass"

awesome snare!

Comments about TAMA Lars Ulrich Diamond Plate Steel Snare Drum 14x6.5:

This snare is very very loud, if you like playing hard and heavy music this is a good snare to choose, i was very fortunate to buy one a month ago...although the price may be steep, its because of the diamond plated steel shell, i know first hand that stuff is hard to come by, especially the thickness (3mm) of his shell. Overall, this snare is one of the loudest and snappiest i've ever heard, its a lot deeper sounding than Joey's Pearl snare.

Perfect for a heavy live sound.

Comments about TAMA Lars Ulrich Diamond Plate Steel Snare Drum 14x6.5:

I've used this snare for several years now. I use it exclusively for live applications. It is extremely loud and cuts right through the mix but doesn't have the tone I get from my studio snare (Tama bronze 6.5 x 14). Now don't take that as a bad thing. This drum is a true road dog. Heavy and able to take a beating, it's perfect for solid back beats or accompanying double bass patterns in a live setting. I wouldn't recommend it for subtle intricacies but for a heavy hitting rocker that needs a consistent live 'crack', this is a great choice.

Comments about TAMA Lars Ulrich Diamond Plate Steel Snare Drum 14x6.5:

I have had this snare for about a year now and im not all that impressed. Its so hard to tune because it just keeps resonating and when you do getit in tune it stays in tune for a few minutes. Pluss its so freakin loud that you cant hear anything else my recomendation is that you get Joey Jordison's Peal snare (i own both and Joey's is way better) or if you can afford it get Chris Adlers Mapex signature snare (its my personal favorite out of all three) just dont get this one too expensive for the quallity

Comments about TAMA Lars Ulrich Diamond Plate Steel Snare Drum 14x6.5:

I think it is interesting to hear reviews from people who have this drum. First of all, I am not a Hugh Lars Ulrich fan. I admire his success more than his technique and every single review of this snare drum I have searched for and found showed someone hitting it once and just hitting it once! Nobody could seem to do any flams or doubles or single stroke rolls or rim shots with any demonstration as so we could hear the tone or action of this drum. I also believe it or not have an exact replica of Lars's kit made in Tama's custom shop, in Platinum Sparkle. But Lars is not why at all. I simply chose his drum sizes because I knew they would sound well. And man do they! Two 16" floor toms! A 10", 12" set of Toms with two 22X16's! So during this transition I also threw in a Lars Ulrich signature Diamond plate snare. Before it arrived I sort of regretted it thinking it probably will not sound all that and ring too much or something. So it arrives. I had to tune it. Just out of the box with the REMO Ambassador coated head it sounded amazing! I was so surprised! I then lowered the pitch a bit by tuning it down a tad on the top head. It's sort of a dry sound but without the dark tone you get from a hand hammered brass Ludwig shell. It has a LM-402 sound but it is punchy and thick sounding. I was really surprised. This thing's a keeper! It weighs about 16 lbs! I think it's weight with diamonds on the diamond plate steel deaden the sound so it will not over ring like a lot of metal snares. The action is fast which I like for multi stroke rolling.
It's a fast warm rich, punchy sounding snare! Lars did good with this! Honestly... I thought I was probably gonna regret buying this snare, but it is my #1 metal snare drum. I currently own a Ludwig LM-402, Ludwig Carl Palmer Venus Brass snare, Ludwig 8" steel snare. I really like Tama! Listen to the Hardwired recordings from Metallica, this snare has a warm dry punchy thump to it with just a touch of ring. This is a keeper
